For the next transfers we should do the Lone Wolf and Cub test. Only that instead of a sword or a ball it's an apple and a diet soda on one side and a burger and a beer on the other.

Absolute nonsense. This man positioned himself at a financial point where we are not even remotely part of the discussion.

For everyone mentioning Gakpo. I have seen a lot of Gakpo, probably more than 100 games. I like him, he's a very good player with an exceptional mentality. He's fairly quick, has good dribbling, decent technique, a superb shot and is fairly intelligent. But...see below.

My view: this would be the worst possible moment to buy someone of his talent level, as he'd be priced at a premium due to his 3 WC goals (I deliberately didn't say WC performances, because they've been OK, not great). Furthermore, his preferred position is clearly and without a doubt the LW position (as this position makes his strengths stand out more). In fact, when Van Gaal switched to this strange 5-3-2 and had a starting role for Gakpo, everyone was wary whether he'd be a fit. The fact that he scored 3 times is a surprise for everyone, even if he's considered a good player. Finally, Gakpo can be bullied off the ball / game fairly easily. In other words, he can go on the invisible tour when you need him most.

Anyway, not the right purchase in my opinion, considering what we have in the squad. But he's a good player.

Brahim/Arribas to replace Asensio /Mariano should be a no brainer. Evens out the Spanish quota also.

Enzo has already shown his priority is playing time, a lot will depend on whether Kroos and Modric retire after this season I think. I’d love to secure the player though and figure the rest out after.

Good points. I’ve also seen a few games of his this season and what people who have been clamoring for a 9 are missing is that he’s a LW not a 9. He’s a good player at that position too. He’s a good player overall who has scored some goals in the World Cup which will no doubt inflate his price. Buying him at a high point to play at a position he doesn’t normally play is risky. I read a report before the World Cup that man United had already made an approach to the player.

It seems that there are an abundance of quality LW's, but very few 9's and RW's right now.

We are not even half way through the tournament and every player who has made a good pass has been linked with us. Just hope people here understand this is all BS.

That's what happens when you don't buy a striker in the summer and the media outlet report that Flo will be looking for the WC star instead.

Asensio will most likely get renewed which dents the possibility of Brahim returning. Pretty unfortunate, imo he'll end up like Theo Hernandez, Ødegaard and Hakimi

I wonder how pushing and insisting works for Madrid. Does Flo have reps following Endrick's camp 24/7 and flooding their emails and messages with Madrid videos? :p

Benfica want 80-85 ME for Enzo as Fabrizio Romano mentioned earlier.

See why I called the title financial frugality? Anything over 70M is labeled too much, no thanks, etc. - like if we were an Athletic Bilbao, Arsenal, or a midtable team I'd understand. But we are Real Madrid, we can afford it.

Someone is going to have to show me the time in history where we regularly spent +€70M on players that weren't proven cracks and stars.

    I will be waiting.

I think some of you would be more happy supporting an oil state club that actually does these ridiculous things.

We spent some good money on average plays with Calderon, only for Perez to come and sell them all lol.

If Modric retires after this season, then yes. And I wouldn't expect Kroos to return.
