Argentina winning this group means we're likely to meet them in QF if we get past the Dutch.

IMO, Argentina is our nightmare matchup.

PS: Also, it makes things a bit more difficult for me personally...

Im not so sure.....We MMA that midfield and sever the spine, we isolate Messi (......or as isolate him as much as you can. Hes still gonna get his looks to a degree, we just have to minimize them).

Still ok if they score as they'd go up on goals scored.

tough group. Can't always advance. They looked a lot better this game. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Rumors of Argentina's demise have been greatly exaggerated. I watched the full match today. They are one of the most technical teams in the tournament. Totally controlled the game. Lots of good attacks and ball movement around the box.

Their weakness is mediocre athleticism. Very little pace anywhere in their team, so if they get stretched, they can get punished. Could be their demise against a France or Brazil. They would be a tough matchup for the USA, but I disagree that it's our worst. We have a much more athletic team and might find some joy in midfield and on the counter...provided the backline could hold firm. Weah running at Otamendi? Fuggedaboutit. Brazil or France would be a much, much worse draw for the USA.

On the other hand, Poland are dire. Nothing going forward. No pace. Nothing in the midfield. They're a team with a very low ceiling. One of the weakest possible R16 draws. France will not have any trouble with them.

I did not even know I could wish for Mexico to win and then get sent home for yellow cards, and now I am sad and bitter it did not happen.

I agree France/Brazil are our worst matchups. Argentina is the next tier with Spain. Still an incredibly difficult game it would be though.
