Another 4 years have gone by and its come down to the final game again. lee kang in needs to start hes gonna be the next KNT captain, leader and main man. i think son will score. Hes gonna wanna redeem himself.
Santos won't be looking to rotate his team and just continue to field his A team to avoid facing Brazil. Personally, I don't care what he does come Friday, I just want our players to put up a good fight regardless of the outcome. Our players showed that they can put up a good fight vs Uruguay and Ghana, so I don't see why they can't/won't do the same vs Portugal. Also, I hope Hwang Hee-chan will be fit to play on Friday since it would be very heartbreaking for him to return home without a single minute of playing time.
I so want to kill that man. One of my own blood (the guy must be a Croat, judging by the flag and avatar) mocking a player that's no egotistical primadonna, but an honest, likable human being. A defeat is crushing, especially if one fought hard. Croatia lost to Turkey in 2008 after conceding a goal in the last moments of extra time, and couldn't do the penalties right. That was horrible, and understanding sorrow when hard work comes to nothing is basic human empathy. On behalf of any decent Croat, I apologize. Enough about that gaeseki, it's time for my pledge. 4 years ago, I swore to sing the South Korean anthem if Germany fell. It happened, and I posted a link to my performance. Now, it's time for something new. I hereby solemnly promise that, if KNT take the 3 points off of Portugal, I will start posting in Korean. Actual sentences. It's a challenge, but if I want to be as close to a Korean as I could be, this is a logical step, and it may please any higher forces up there. I have the super-useful Lexilogos webpage to type in Korean at the ready. Why haven't I done full sentences before? Well... 괜찮아 4년 정도 한국어 배웠지만, 자신감이 없어요. Why do I lack confidence? Might sound like a cop-out, but I have a vocabulary issue (remembering more frequently used words over rarely used ones, or knowing which words to use in which context, until I get a grasp of the topic). And, since I'm a court translator for English, I want things to be perfect when I write and speak. It took me ages to get over the mental block when I wanted to speak Russian, Italian, Japanese... German not so much I guess, because I can coin words on the fly, but still.
Kim Minjae did the bike exercise today along with Son and others who played yesterday. Compared with 4 days ago he looks to be in a better condition. There is a good chance he will play vs Portugal. Son and Kim only did the bike but HwangHC participated in the full training session. Hwang will play in the last match.
Thank you for lifting my mood. Whoever starts for Portugal up top will need to be marked out of the game. Crosses are going to scare me especially. A fitter KMJ is like a benzodiazepam without the side effects. EDIT: your edit is even better news! I know this is not the Korean anthem but the Polish one, but I'm really getting the vibes "Korea has not perished yet, as long as we live!" Hope exists.
Dreams are free. Let us hope for screams of excitement, and hearts full of pride. I have to ask all of you people here, can the word 편 be used to describe the term "flank"? As in, we'll smash Portugal down our left flank and send deadly crosses for CGS to head into the net? Asking because I've learned about the word 편 in a grammar point last Saturday in my Korean class.
Wish we could play a 3-5-2 against Portugal with SHM and CGS up front and LKI starting as the 10 to maximize counters and headers. Not holding my breath though.
Had a gut feeling it was JWY. I suppose he will play. However, HHC is available - there's been a link to a Naver article.
Hope our boys are properly resting and recovering from any knocks. Theyve all been working extremely hard, especially HIB and KJS, who I flamed yesterday. While I wasn’t happy with the quality of his final ball, he did make up for it with the stellar assist to CGS. And he’s been running like crazy operating as a wingback in a back 4. All we can ask for against Portugal is that he maintains that energy and hope for some luck with his crosses.
Can't say for certain on how much of the outcome from the last two matches would've changed, but we really needed Hwang Hee-chan to make those speedy runs while flanking the sides, at least taking into consideration on how Uruguay and Ghana were playing, a healthy Hwang Hee-chan would've caused all sorts of problems. Hopefully he'll cause all sorts of problems for Portugal, and the same goes for Lee Kang-in should he start.
Crosses are a matter of practice. I also don't think he's worked much with CGS before. If they talk a lot and sync up, then it'd be easier for CGS to time his runs, and KJS to find him. Worst case scenario, ordering KJS to send passes along the ground is OK too, since Son won't have to head them in.
If HHC is fit enough to start and has no issues with his pace then he will be a great option. Portugal will surely look to dominate and score lots of goals to secure the group and gain some confidence before the knockout stages. Korea needs to focus on exploiting that space with the counter through pacy players. That's why I really want to see SHM in the free role up top. HHC and JWY would be good options too.
Both KJS and CGS play for the same club (Jeonbuk Hyundai). So I'm sure there's some chemistry and has worked with each other before. Although CGS only joined Jeonbuk later on this past K-League season since he was on the military team (Kimcheon Sangmu) for most of the season.
