I barely noticed KCH when he was on the field. He wasn't a liability but didn't help. LKI on the other hand came on and within minutes stole the ball and delivered a perfect cross into the box that KJS could only dream of executing.
All things considered... in the bucket of all of our worst case scenarios, we are facing the least bad of the worst case scenarios. 1) beat Portugal who are already through to the round of 16th 2) Uruguay who are desperate for a win to beat Ghana who have conceded 5 goals in 2 matches Once in my life time, just maybe, we will win our first two games and watch the 3rd game without clenching my butt cheeks.
Same. I will never forgive him for just giving up after losing the ball and made us concede in the final. But we have no alternatives.
If one looks at the match statistics it is clear that Uruguay are the better side than Ghana. They have at least some chance to beat Ghana. I don't buy that African mystique or whatever. I am a man of science. They just need to overcome the shell-shock and loss of confidence. The difference between Korea and Portugal is not that large. Ghana have low possession rates. Sometimes it is due to the counter attacking play style but in this case I think Ghana are just not capable. On Korean boards Korean fans seem to take the loss fairly well. They were entertained. Korea will finally get rid of Bento after this WC. That is a very positive outcome. Son most likely will have another WC but hopefully there is someone who will replace him so that he is a bench member in his last WC. Talent-wise this generation is not all that bad. There is a video of Park Jisung and Park Jooyoung who were fairly impressed by this generation. I hope that the Portugal match become the stage to showcase Lee KangIn. One needs to accept that vs Portugal is the last match of this WC. Jo Gyusung should go to Europe but it is not a bad idea to stay in Korea for a year or more. Europeans don't care about Korean players. They will be harsh if the Korean is not ready. Park Jisung could have been trashed in his early career without the protection of Hiddink.
Lee Kang-in needs to start vs Portugal, he's literally the engine to our team and we need it to start at the beginning rather than later at the second half. It would've been better had he started vs Uruguay as well as vs Ghana, but Bento did use him rather than not so I won't complain. Kwon Chang-hoon's form took a huge dip, and aside from his shot in the first half, he has been rather absent. Lee Kang-in on the other hand made an immediate impact as soon as he came on, basically revitalizing the team, then his intercept that led to a beautiful assist to Cho Gue-sung's first goal. We really needed Hwang Hee-chan, and the fact that he's still out due to hamstring injury is biting us in the ass. Can't believe I'm saying this, but Na Sang-ho wasn't bad.
By the way, Kim Min-jae looks to be out vs Portugal, so we're in a tough spot. Bento out with a red card as well, so we'll have to carry on with Sergio Costa and Michael Kim. Portugal will be looking to rest their players, however their B team are no pushover either. Still, I'm hoping we can put on a good show even if we hit the exit (Of course anyone of us would want the results to go in our favor).
He's not good. But I don't know who we have to replace him. He did have an assist today so that's that. He needs to cross that ball first time like he did on that assist but like every time. He has a tendency to take too many touches before the cross and lose timing. Oh and he loses the ball too many times. Okay, he's not good.
There's no options at LB and Hong Chul sucks balls. We did have Lee Ki-je but he was only tested like once? Anyhow, we've been lacking FB options the moment guys like Song Chong-gug, Lee Young-pyo, Cha Du-ri left, but our RB is still a tad better than LB.
I think Uruguay will beat Ghana. Uruguay aren't out and they need a win so they'll be plenty motivated. Korea played well enough to win both games. Won't be a total shock to anyone to win vs a Portuguese side who I hope are resting some of their players. We've got to start LKI. It's a high risk high reward situation. No point in seeing him on the bench. Would like to see CGS in Europe also. Go to a team without a ton of pressure so he can gain confidence and develop. Outside the top 5 leagues - maybe Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Austria. PSJ was injured that first year at PSV. He was balling by that 2nd year. Definitely need a manager who can trust a player through the adjustment period, as Pochettino did with SHM after a rough first year.
Not sure. They might still do their best to win the 1st place to avoid Brazil. Also, https://n.news.naver.com/sports/qatar2022/article/468/0000904409 Their defender, Nunu will be out too btw. Is it confirmed KMJ will be out? So is Ghana. They want their revenge for what happened years ago. I hope you are right but Uruguay is such a bad team right now. We really should've won.
One of the goals by Ghana would have been a handball in the old rule. It is not a handball in the new rule. Park Ji Sung was furious because he only knew of the old rule. Korean netizens these days are sophisticated enough that after checking the facts they made no issue out of it. Blowing the whistle without corner is another issue. I don't have an opinion one way or another but in the main WC2022 Bigsoccer subforum the opinion is unanimous that the referee was right. But in WC 2002 almost exactly the same thing happened. Spain did not get the corner and the referee blew the whistle. Many Euro soccer low lives were screaming that Koreans are cheaters. Uhhh? the referee was Egyptian. Oh Koreans bought the referee they claimed. I am really sick and tired of these football Eurotrash.
Hence why I said their B team won't be a pushover. Also, it's not confirmed but Kim Min-jae basically tapped out at the 90 +2 minute mark, he took a knock at his ankle so it seems it's still bothering, but no word yet on his status.
Are you sure you're a man of science? Because what you said in the bolded is objectively, extremely false by every measure imaginable. Points won during the group is the most objective measure available and it indicates that the difference is indeed huge. Portugal has 5 times the points Korea does. Portugal won 6 of a max 6 points against the same teams that Korea only managed 1 single point from. And it reflects the following reality: Portugal is vastly superior to Korea as a team. This doesn't happen in a vacuum. Points won is the most objective measure but if you want to take a look at another metric, like market value of teams, you'll understand that Portugal's results so far reflect the reality that their team is composed of arguably the highest level of talent at the tournament.
Paolo Bento will not be allowed back into his home country after he delivers the corpses of Ronaldo and Pepe into the jaws of Brazil. And he will conduct this masterclass from the stands.
So according to you Costa Rica are three times as good as Germany. I am pretty sure you are not a man of science. According to you England are twice as good as Argentina.
It's magnified by the fact that within the 10 min stoppage time, one of the Ghana players went down for more than a minute. Refs have been good about adding that time at the end of stoppage time in other games. When the ball went out for a corner it was 10:40 or something of stoppage time. Just seems like more than not, a normal ref would allow the corner to be taken and as soon as the ball is cleared and it's 11:15 or something of stoppage time, blow the whistle. That sounds much more reasonable but I'm biased.
I am not sure how many Benfica's are out there but there used to be Benfica that visited Korea for a soccer match before the K League. I was little and don't remember much but come to think of it back in the days it was a "European" team with a European playing style but one that often lost to the Korean NT, boosting Koreans' ego. That Benfica were only a semi-pro or high level amateurs.
According to ESPN 90 minutes of Lee Kang-in might have made the difference in South Korea's FIFA World Cup loss to Ghana https://www.espn.com/soccer/fifa-wo...ference-south-korea-fifa-world-cup-loss-ghana The reporter seems to be Chinese(Gabriel Tan) so I don't know how much of this is ESPN's opinion but... P.S. In a British broadcast Drogba and another female soccer player appear to have been impressed by Jho Kyuseong.
That requires Ghana win and Korea trashing Portugal. Korea would be out in the process as 3rd in the group.
occams razor youre probably going to go into cardiac arrest then if we do advance maybe we better not lol
