Absolutely, for the right $. Has the energy / hold-up play that EtH demands in addition to finishing.

Think Southgate making a mistake taking Wilson instead of Toney, especially for future given ages (26 vs 30) given unlikely to see many minutes as Kane under-study.

    Toney is a beast

not sure he’s technical enough for a side that doesn’t play longer passes or possession based though

Wolves are denied a clear penalty by VAR and now White yells at the assistant ref and throws the ball at him and doesn’t even see yellow. Arsenal getting away with everything right now.

Watching the highlights for the various games this weekend... I'm really wishing they'd get rid of VAR. It's just... so antithetical to the spirit of the game. The constant re-judging situations, every goal has to be reviewed, having to celebrate twice because you have to wait for VAR to "authenticate" the goal essentially...

I really miss the pre-VAR days. Especially with how poorly it's utilized and how many calls they still get wrong.

I don’t give a shit about the spirit of the game and the stoppages if VAR is getting things right, but they somehow have managed to consistently get decisions wrong more often than the refs on the field so as it stands it serves no purpose.

To take it a step further, the standard of reffing in England in general is horrible.

    I disagree.

I prefer more of the human element. If that means they don't call someone who was offside by a c-hair, then that's it. Removing the referee from the game to adjudicate every blade of grass is absurd. Same thing with what they're doing with baseball and removing umpires from the equation more and more.

I’d prefer it to only be used for offsides since that’s cut and dry. Fouls are more grey and I’d just as well that be up to the refs even though they’re shit.

Having unprotected concrete surrounding a pitch so close to the players in this day and age is a scandal.

The issue with him is he's hella streaky. He does everything in one game (braces, hattricks, assists) and blanks in others .someone said he was a better option than Wilson but I disagree. Wilson is a marksman and an ideal sub for Kane. His only issue is injuries.

Having a hot-streak when Englands first game is a week Monday is exactly why I would have taken Toney.

In terms of Toney vs Wilson for us, age / injuries is again why I would go for Toney over Wilson. In Martial and Ronaldo we have had enough of unavailable strikers.

Plus again the age thing (26 v 30).

Southgate likely knew this was coming, hence him not making the squad.
