Oddly I had a heard a rumor that the door was open to him possibly returning to the crew next season. I take the rumor as wishful thinking but the source has a source that has a source that watched soccer one time.
What do you suppose is a good amount to spend on a backup striker, for this team? Honestly, for being the immediate relief should Cucho go down with a career ending injury, this player is now the man all season. In 2023's MLS....I would probably still want a TAM level guy......unless we think JRR is ready. Whether Gyasi is ready to accept that type of deal or not at this point in his career...I have no idea.
Not quite the same thing, cause I think Gyasi has more left in his tank, but how much did we pay BWP last year?
JRR is a fantastic 3rd choice striker with loads of potential. Our #2 guy needs to be more effective than what we’ve had the last 2 seasons. BWP and Hurtado ain’t it. There were games where Cucho and Zelerayan just couldn’t find the net. We need a different look, a difference maker. A Gareth Bale off the bench. A Jurkovich at LAG. Somebody with professional quality. Not just a practice dummy.
DC just cut ties with Ola Kamara. He had nine goals last year and 19 the year before that. Maybe if we're looking for someone to have a second tour of duty...
I thought of this as well. He's not really anyone's first choice for a starter in the league anymore, but hes still a capable scorer. He's 33 and would probably be amenable to being a backup option like BWP. I'd be fine with this if the money was right. If we get Nancy as our coach we may just see the 3rd tour of duty of our even more illustrious former Kamara!
I don't know man. Sure he scores occasional goals. But his next team will be his sixth team since 2015. Why doesn't any team keep him. Must be a cancer in the locker room. Hard pass....
Conversely, he's spent the past four seasons with the same team, and one of the previous teams he was on signed a guy named Zlatan a few months after signing Ola, so he had no choice but to leave if he wanted to be a regular starter.
Gyasi will be a free agent. He's a 31 year old striker who scored ten goals last year and is nearing 100 in his career. It wouldn't surprise me at all if another team in MLS offered him something that we couldn't. Good luck to him.

That one did work, true. Always exceptions to the rule. Williams has been decent enough as well. Meram, not so much.
I don't mind that we traded Gyasi. I do mind that, as part of that process, we benched him and seemed to tank his potential trade value. The only semi-reasonable explanation is that we were worried he might get hurt if he played. But in the meantime we had to suffer, week after week with Berry out there, flailing away.
