Which is fun to think about but we all know that if Trump hasn’t handpicked this women to be the nominee, and even someone just basic conservative and bland like Joe Lombardo, they would have easily won this race. I’m enjoying the emphatic rejection of Trumpsim
As well dump on the NY Dem party (which we should), beginning to look like the CA Dems have the potential to really fall flat - mostly in and around the OC. Katie Porter is barely hanging on and might end up losing her seat. I’ve always thought there was a risk in this state down ballot, because the state wide and federal statewide races are always so uncompetitive- making it ripe for a GOP fundamentals year. Might be seeing that now
OUCH!! You’re welcome, @KariLake. https://t.co/5jVFIprwxS— Liz Cheney (@Liz_Cheney) November 15, 2022
I know quite a bit about Sinema's past. Not sure about "talented," but she is a huge disappointment. I thought she really had some potential.
NOVEMBER 05, 2022 MANCHIN REACTS TO BIDEN'S OUTRAGEOUS COAL COMMENTS Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on comments President Biden made about shutting down coal plants. “President Biden’s comments are not only outrageous and divorced from reality, they ignore the severe economic pain the American people are feeling because of rising energy costs. Comments like these are the reason the American people are losing trust in President Biden and instead believes he does not understand the need to have an all in energy policy that would keep our nation totally energy independent and secure. It seems his positions change depending on the audience and the politics of the day. Politicizing our nation’s energy policies would only bring higher prices and more pain for the American people. “Let me be clear, this is something the President has never said to me. Being cavalier about the loss of coal jobs for men and women in West Virginia and across the country who literally put their lives on the line to help build and power this country is offensive and disgusting. The President owes these incredible workers an immediate and public apology and it is time he learn a lesson that his words matter and have consequences.” https://www.manchin.senate.gov/news...hin-reacts-to-bidens-outrageous-coal-comments What are the chances that Manchin (D-WV) becomes Manchin (R-WV)?
None. It is the play for 2024. Joe has to run as bi-partisian Joe Manchin and not Biden's lapdog. He will have these hard push backs for the next two years. It is a beautiful dance and kayfabe. Enjoy it.
One hundred percent. Ignore these lieberals. You know as well as me that Manchin is gonna become a Republican immediately after Republicans shit the bed in the midterm elections, because reasons. You're so smart and cool, glad we can stick together.
Fashy Lake losing is awesome Of course wingbut media will try to blame trump 100% for this but the truth is lake ws popular with the local party and base
Of course she didn't Less than two weeks before the election I couldn’t get her team to go on the record stating she was voting for Katie— Tim Miller (@Timodc) November 15, 2022
The GOP sure doesn't feel like everyone wants to pivot from Fash Vance also shilling for Trump We literally just got millions more votes than socialists and we have to adapt? https://t.co/kW7467ppnU— Matt Schlapp (@mschlapp) November 15, 2022
I see MattY and Tom Nichols and others had to eat their dumb student loan takes It seems to be Bidens take was correct. The policy was important for base but political cost zero.
Matt is a complete clown and a troll now. Tom Nichols can be stubborn in some of his views but he is a decent dude.
For all the talk of the GOP elite, Trump will get a lot of support from grifters like Matt Schlapp. He is also pushing for Mc Carthy to be speaker, both him and Stefanik are fully aboard the MAGA train.
Good job Gary Peters. New York Times: “In 2021, as Democratic strategists brainstormed ways to defend their threadbare control of the Senate, they began an aggressive communications strategy with the goal of choosing their adversaries.” “Their best chance of hanging on, Senator Gary Peters of Michigan told staff members at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, was to focus like a laser on the four seats they needed to keep: Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and New Hampshire.” “But Peters, the committee’s chairman, also authorized a bit of skulduggery. The emerging plan had two main components: deterring potentially strong Republicans from entering races against those ‘core four’ Democratic incumbents, and ‘maximizing the chaos’ within Republican primaries.” “In this, Democrats had an unwitting ally in Donald Trump, who insisted on supporting only candidates who would back his stolen-election lies.”
To add to this.....This GOP strategist makes good points. If the GOP tries to kneecap TFG and push him aside, he will sabotage them all the way to 2024. The other thing about all this "Elite pivot" BS is the frustrating 9D chess from the media and pundit class about how this all plays It's very simple. If this is real, then the new leaders like DeSantis just need to walk to the nearest microphone and announce that Trump is a criminal and utterly unfit to be near the party, let alone the presidency - he belongs in jail, even if just for the abuse of power revealed (again) this week (Comey/Mcabe/IRS) But no one will do that, because what they really want is for Trump to just go quietly without a fight. They've always hoped someone else would do it for them i.e the Dems of DOJ, or as revealed by Jmart, that Trump would hopefully die.
I saw an interview with a Dem CA Congressman. His take, for what it's worth (of course there was some spin involved), was - 1) All the Dem incumbents will win (well, maybe not Porter). 2) But yeah, we lost the open seats. 3) The reason being twofold. One, Roe is less of an issue in CA because the voters here know that the state will protect their rights. Two, we got hit especially hard with inflation, because our gas prices are so high. On #3, I have no idea whether either item is either correct or relevant. Just passing that along.
The same way that McQarthy is trying to recruit democrats for his bid, shouldn't Nancy be courting the 5 or 6 sane Republicans left (if that many) and try to keep the speakership?
She doesn't have to do it now and the Chessmaster knows that it will be more dramatic and have more of an effect on Dark Biden's re-election when she gets Republicans to switch and pulls off a real coup at the end of '23.
