Thought this may have been Bukayo’s most mid game this season. We looked kinda checked out as a team tbf
FT WOL 0-2 ARS After a lackluster 1T, we turned things around in 2T. And did the business. TOTL by 5 points over Citeh after 14 games. And up until New Year's Eve at least. Best start to an Arsenal season ever. WOW. Who of us saw that coming??? Oh yeah, last but not least... Mikel Knows!
Done and dusted. Five points clear going into the break and Liverpool, United and Chelsea are all outside the top four. Couldn't have scripted it any better.
Can we please take a moment to appreciate the signings since Arteta came on board? For all the wringing of hands the previous several years, seeing players brought in who a) fill needs, b) fill them well, and c) play with poise and work rate is SUCH an amazingly beautiful thing to experience. Odegaard, White, Partey, Martinelli, Jesus... Such a joy.
Shouldn’t be understated that he’s also maximized the talents of one Granit Xhaka. For all the talk that he can’t fit players into his system, he is the only Arsenal manager that has done that for Xhaka
Fivethirtyeight projections now up to 36% to win the league, 91% for top 4. City favorites at 52%. 12% for others, which seems way too high to me.
i think someone dug up a quote where wenger said xhaka is most suited for box-to-box . . . only to never play him there.
Credit to the Wolves, what they lack in quality they make up for in courage and effort. If they get relegated, it won't be for lack of trying. They're just so toothless in the attack.
totally agree. i know they're bottom of the table and are missing all their strikers (through amazingly garbage luck there) but, to me, any team with neves and adama traore can screw you hard. they were more solid on defense than i expected. i didn't see semedo being so solid and a great game by bueno on saka. apparently, guedes has been "looks good in flashes but not delivering" for most of the season if the commentaries when i look at highlights is anything to go by and that fit today. but dude's a talent, though.
they'll have costa back and, as much as he's highly hate-able, he's a dangerous striker, even with zero legs left. i'm still so sad about jimenez. that dude looked so damn good before that injury. it'll be interesting to see the direction their new coach goes but, man, if they keep the solidity of today's defense, i think they stay up easy.
Not sure which talking head was talking either towards the end of the game or after, but he said this was exactly the kind of game Arsenal used to lose or draw. And now we are winning them. I love this team!
i think you're right. you can see it from his running where he looks worse than mitrovic. i don't think he stands to score a ton but i think he's enough of a dickhead bullshit artist that he draws attention enough to free traore and guedes and create the garbage fouls for free kicks. it surprises me that, with moutinho and neves, they've had zero set piece goal this season.
