@almango @La Trucha @thewitness @theFOOTBALLlover Are there any other still active Australian posters?
Not that he would've got a game anyway, but still a bit harsh if true? https://www.news.com.au/sport/footb...l/news-story/8baae583da063c3a9a59c06cd330d34f
Easily the second best keeper after Ryan, so it’s a disappointing snub. CCM fans will be pleased to see Garang Kuol and Jason Cummings both made the cut. Unsurprisingly, it seems that Cristian Volpato has declined a spot. He’s probably still holding out for an Italy call up. I’m interested to see if Alessandro Circati and Alex Robertson will make the cut.
If accurate it's really disappointing for Langerak. He is clearly in the Top 2 of Aussie Goalkeepers these days. I wouldn't have Vukovic or Redmayne even in the top 3 Australian keepers in the A-League and is a wasted opportunity where they could've taken a young keeper to get World Cup experience as the 3rd choice.
Who do you suggest as a young keeper good enough to represent Socceroos? Can’t see any of the current young-ins as Ryan’s successor, and late 30’s isn’t that old for a goalkeeper. Ryan, Langerak and Grey Wiggle can all stick around for 2026 World Cup.
Aside from Langerak missing, this is mainly a good list of players. I’m not salty about Volpato declining a spot. He’s still only 18 and just starting out with Roma, plus it’s still a long shot before Italy calls him up. In 2026, if his club career goes well, he will be 22 and have over 100+ appearances with Roma or another club. That will be ideal for the Socceroos.
