Not easy to miss that second shot so closely. He’s not gonna sleep tonight thinking about those chances

Missing that shot was a lot harder than scoring the goal, so he deserves credit.

Man, I love this kid, watched him at Barca B, but he does this way to often to be an accident.

Either something clicks or he is a footnote in a few years.

Production matters. Well, not to cultured BS posters but it will to KDLF‘s employers.

Hopefully he has that breakout match and he runs with it, or who knows where the next stop will be.

Obviously not giving up on the kid, but there is something to the overblown expectations of a yank in the Barca academy. Personally, I just haven't seen this talent/skills progress in the past few years. Still playing at a high level but seems to have plateaud.. which (in theory) doesn't bode well for someone his age. He'll get passed by and then have to drop down a level to get playing time.

Any idea what's up with this guy?

Didn't make the Europa squad, and there's no report of an injury.

I didn't know this, but I just looked it up and found out that James Rodríguez acquired Spanish citizenship in 2019. That's important for Konrad. In the Greek League, they are limited by the number of non-EU players who are able to suit up on each matchday. At Olympiacos, it is tight to see which non-EU's get to suit up because they have more than the minimum allowed.

Konrad told me years ago that he was within a year of getting Spanish citizenship. I never followed up. A few fans of Olympiacos have told me he doesn't have Spanish citizenship and is one of the non-EU's. I tend to believe them. I guess Konrad never got his Spanish citizenship. That is a big drawback for him in a lot of leagues. It hurts him in going to places like the Eredivisie and now it could hurt him playing in Greece.

But if Rodriguez was joining as a non-EU, it would really hurt Konrad's chances of playing.

James being better and more proven would also hurt his chances, but point very well taken

Manager Carlos Corberan has managed his last match for Olympiacos. So, at least KDLF will have a different manager to love or hate him now.

Brutal. He lasted less than Bob Bradley in Swansea. 3 losses, 3 draws, 2 wins by shots from the spot, and 2 regular time wins. It was not that bad.

Konrad didn't play in any of the losses and played the most time (63' and 74') during the two regular time wins.

Man, I remember when the Greek league and Olympiakos were decent destinations. Especially Olympiakos.

I do wonder how they would compare to MLS now. I fear KDLF is on a road to nowhere right now. Ugh.

And thus ends the only positive reason for him to be there (Corberan is a a former Bielsa assistant coach). Hopefully, there's a recall option in the loan deal that OM can utilize in January but I'm not holding my breath

KDLF appears to not be in the squad at all today vs Atromitos, according to ESPN.

From what I've gathered the issue for Konrad still seems to be not taking training as seriously as he should

Quick search on Twitter and word from Greece is saying Konrad needs to improve in training.

The American 2001-born players in Europe have been..... an absolute mess

    Konrad
    Booth
    Otasowie
    Tessmann
    Uly
    Hoppe
    Kelman
    Bassett
Reynolds (who is the best of this bunch)

    YIKES!

The ones in MLS have been fraught with issues: Araujo still looks probably the best of the class, but he bailed for Mexico. Ochoa also bailed and probably could still be useful to US Soccer. Matko Miljevic has been a weird situation and he never recovered from missing all that time fighting with Argentinos Juniors. Cam Harper never really materialized

Of those still in the US Soccer system, Leon Flach and Johnny are in good club situations. Both are limited players but they still play regularly for good teams. I’d still say Aidan Morris is a W from the 2001 class, he won MLS Cup and has come back well from a torn ACL.

It's too bad for U.S. Soccer too, as the 2001-born class should be the backbone of the U-23 Olympic team since it's the oldest birth year for the 2024 Paris games.

EDIT: I added Reynolds because I forgot to mention him initially (thanks @Casper)

2nd EDIT: I added a bit on Aidan Morris

Brian, but on the plus side, won’t this chronic underperformance make these players’ release for the Olympics more likely?
