all of Porter guys except Nagbe are small budget deals

Issa Tall and idk how many scouts we have are involved along with the coach. Ultimately it’s the GM call and definitely all contracts good or bad are on Bez .

Only an idiot hires experts because of their knowledge and experience and then ignores their advice.

The question is how good are the ppl you hired . Obviously it’s not a easy job and there are a lot of variables

And you know this how, exactly?

You're seriously arguing that Porter played no role in the Molino acquisition? He was being paid ONE MILLION DOLLARS a year. Just to coach and, what the hell, just leave the player acquisitions to a guy who's never coached?

    Fire all the coaches.

    Fire the entire front office.

    Sell all the players.

Next we’ll be sending Crew Cat to a kennel up state.

Some of you guys need to get a grip. The team underperformed, but it’s not a total disaster.

This is complete revisionist history. When Molino was signed it was easily panned as one of the best moves of the offseason by everyone around the league. Every player we bring in has the ability to go completely downhill like Kitchen and Molino. The coach/GM does get some blame on but not at the level that you keep bringing up. It's not like we were handing Ryan Coiner a lifetime contract or something.

    Agreed 100%.

The Molino deal was universally applauded. He was coming off a spectacular year and was considered one of the two or three best wingers in the league. Then he tore up that knee.

Now the team is stuck with a large contract for a player who has contributed little, and it's unfortunate, but it's simply cheap, juvenile hindsight to call it a stupid signing or a front office failure. . Good signings sometimes go bad, and if you can't understand and deal with it then you need to grow up.

I wouldn't say 100%. If Porter said "I need this guy to take our team to the next level" and was able to convince Bez/ownership he was worth the money, then I wouldn't put it all on Bez. Let's not forget how good Molino just a month or so before we signed him. Now, assuming this was the case (we have no idea if it was), I would expect Bez to push back due to injury history. But again, we don't know the dynamics. If Porter convinces ownership, Bez pretty much has to make the signing happen, and Molino was hot at the time so anyone who wanted him was going to have to pay.

I thought the signings we made the year after we won the title were very smart. Molino, BWP, and Kitchen in particular..None of them have worked out. Age finally caught BWP, and injury got Kitchen & Molino. And Moreira at mid-season was wonderful. Moreis getting hurt early was a gut punch.

This year was a different story. At least in terms of pre-season moves. Yeboah was underwhelming. We did not address LB at all. The Zardes/Berry thing was a debacle. Degenek was hurt a lot and spotty. We were worse off than when we started, despite getting Morris back. Cucho was great early & faded. And late game blunders were the worst in the history if the league.

Outside of Lucas, Morris, and Etienne, there is not a player I'd be gutted to lose.

Re: Molino, when he was signed, none of us knew how long the contract was for. You're certainly right that he was universally seen as a good signing. But it now seems as though the team paid a premium for him: league max plus at least a three year contract. Maybe that third year (assuming it's "only" a three year contract) was necessary to sign him at all. But it does magnify the damage done to the roster budget by signing a layer who's failed pan out.

So you think Porter is involved in contract length ? Salary and what else

no wonder he sucked to busy being the GM, so what does Bez do?

Porter either likes a player or he doesn’t , i find it hard to believe he is dictating more than that

Until people heard about the contract details
If we signed him to a 1 year deal like everyone else offered than i would agree. So at the time i thought it was great we all did because it’s worth the risk. Once I found out it was not a one year deal I realized what a failure it was and called it out immediately.

Agreed. I thought Molino would only be 2 years, or the 3rd would be an option.

Still, he was not horrible the last few games this year. Had a goal and was involved in the buildup with some nice passing.

If he is gonna be here, I like him better as LZ's backup. He does not have the wheels to play wide anymore. Or the motor. But he is pretty crafty inside and a good passer. Morris at DM with LZ and Molino in frint of him wouldn't be a horrible option late when we need goals (as a CM trio).

No it’s a absolutely insane deal again every single MLS team offered him a 1 year deal ! Molinos agent played Bez like a master puppet and now you guys all want to act like that’s not what happened ? I’m not the one who needs to grow up. It’s a crucial mistake that even a novice GM should not make. You don’t sign old injury ridden players to multi year contracts !
    It’s absolutely absurd

Sucked at coaching obviously because you guys want to act like he had anything to do with the contract . Again he probably liked Molino maybe he even said i got to have this guy. It’s still up to Bez to do the contract .

No way in hell Porter does contracts !
