i can accept that. everybody has their own preference. i'm partial to black in general and, growing up, red and blue were just not good colours to wear so i lean even more heavily there.
Yup. People of my generation, who are not insignificant in number or prominence, look to the classic kits from the 70s & 80’s as traditional. Also, it was a time when there were only two kits AFAIK, and the color schemes didn’t change every year like they do now. So for example, our yellow/blue away kit from that period lasted for about 2 decades straight, relatively unchanged (plus quite a few shorter stints after that, but with more tweaks in shades and patterns). Which IMO also adds to yellow/blue being more “traditional“ than a lot of other kit schemes that came and went. Of course YMMV as you seem to imply.
I'll add that I really prefer some sort of yellow or gold-ish second kit --- and yeah probably more so for the reasons stated --- [cue the music and Topol].
Money > Tradition Hugely successful Away kit launch on Monday : over £1m in sales, a first day record for Arsenal, way above any other new kit— REDaction Gooners (@REDactionAFC) July 19, 2022
The black kit looks slick, and it is the kind of thing you can wear casually, and not just on match day when you are off to the bar.
I'll think we'll get that next year, but other than that, I have been a Gooner since 2013 and embraced this football club after finding out about The Invincibles from 10 years before (as evident of my still having, to this day after buying them all) having all 4 outfield strips sponsored by the fine folks at O2) ad I have been through the final Nike kits from 2013-14, as well as all 5 seasons of Pumas and also this series from Adidas, and they all had their moments, the past 3 years that Adidas put out the current "Fly Better" slogan kits this might be the most beautiful and striking collection I have seen in my 10 seasons as a Gooner, last season's third strip and the new away one just released yesterday may not fall into the traditional means, but they are the best of the non-traditional ones (and also the 2020-21 away white strip) and yes, this time, unlike last season, I am not gonna wait until I see our Gunner Best on TV wearing them on the pitch, like I did on Opening Day last season away to Brentford with the third kit, so consider all 4 of them ordered, I already have the home kit, this and the new GK kit will be next, followed by the new third strip, does anyone have a leak of it perhaps (preferably from FootyHeadlines.com)??? As for the white EPL font being used on our awesome new away strip, WTF is the FA thinking??? When the gorgeous redcurrant kit came out in our final season at Highbury (2005-06) they (the then Barclay's Premiership) issued matching gold number/letter kits, why not do it for this one, how come Arsenal have to do this themselves only to have it relegated to use for Cup/Europa League matches, shame on the EPL for not commissioning a special gold font to go with this beautiful new kit!!!
Whoever approved this new away kit for City should be fired. Why would any team select a kit that only has the primary colors of their biggest, longest, most-bitter cross-town rival?
I'm fairly certain they have worn red/black stripes as an away kit as far back as the '60s, trying to confirm this. I recall seeing some old retro kits in those colors for sale at toffs.com decades ago. edit: Looks like maroon was the color in the '50s and the red/black first appeared in late 60s/early 70s. I do agree it is an odd choice https://www.footballshirtculture.co...er-city-kit-history-from-1884-to-present.html
A big thumbs up for the thick bold numbers on our shirts tonight. It makes it a complete piece of cake to pick out who everyone is.
THIRD KIT TO BE RELEASED SATURDAY!!! https://www.footyheadlines.com/2021/12/arsenal-22-23-third-kit.html I'm getting all 4 for this season, and I'll bet that since we are away to Palace one week from this Friday on Opening Day of the 2022-23 EPL season and since Palace wear red and royal blue at home that we will be debuting this beautiful new third kit then...... also I will be taking Hulu off pause for the new season, so COYF'n'G!!!
Well, about 10 years ago back when the folks at Umbro were making their kits (before they won in 2012) they did have a red/black striped away kit so yes I HAVE seen them before.

I guess that makes more sense. I didn't see or read anything about it being tied to anything. It just kinda made me think of the Brazilian flag. Probably needs some blue.
That’s the adidas template for pre-game kits this year. Most of their other teams have the same pattern, just different color palettes. FWIW - I’m not a fan.
In that case I wonder what Bayern's prematch kit looks like, especially when T-Mobile sponsors it because I do like ours, and a nice job by Adidas to add a black outline on all of the onboard logos, yes even our crest, everything looks damn good I'm not usually a connoisseur of prematch or training kits but I do like the ones we have had over the past couple of years.
