Only way for real to ensure Endrick is to float a special purpose vehicle in Brazil with two more person and a acquire endrick rights and because European rule otherwise does not allow real to buy below 18 years old players in above case special purpose vehicle does not come under UEFA jurisdiction as it in brazil
I would rather they just skip buying a striker if they don't see something they like. Unless there is a vet who is willing to sign a 1 year deal. There is nothing really out there that catches my attention. Plus a transfer window right after the WC in the middle of the season could be interesting.
Prices post-WC in January would likely be insane though, and to me what we don’t want us to splash in January on a hype player. Just get a loan or one year vet now and figure it out next year.
There has to be a good vet out there that would like to sit on the bench of nicely renovated Bernabeu stadium for a year. I am available.
I get the Endrick hype. But the kid is what, 16? He is not our "saviour" yet. Benzema is two decades older than the kid. We will still need a striker in his prime sooner rather than later. ( Not saying we should sign a starter ST right now)
According to Italian outlet Gazzeta dello Sport, Inter Milan have the Odriozola on their agenda if Denzel Dumfries leaves for Chelsea.
Mayoral said he left because Carlo was honest with him. He'd only see the field as Benzema's substite. A lot of these teams lie and pretend that the players would be in competition for a spot. Then when it all falls apart they direct blame to the player.
That does not only happen in football, it happens in all kinds of sectors. Companies often promise the world to potential employees (from promotion, path to partnership, etc.), when in fact you're there to act as a short- to midterm solution. Carlo is a special kind of manager; his honesty sometimes means that you lose players like Mayoral (good for him he chose to play instead of the Mariano path), but I think his management style works well in the long run. Having said that – the reports of Mayoral('s agent) indicating it's his dream to play for Real Madrid and his goal is to continue at Real Madrid, seem somewhat silly now, but we knew that already...
🚨💣 Real Madrid and Getafe are in negotiations for Latasa. @marca #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) August 5, 2022 🚨| Sergio Arribas after a contract improvement agreement, could leave Real Madrid soon. @marca #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) August 5, 2022
Between veterans like Dzeko and Mertens I'd go for the latter. At least just as good a finisher, but much more mobile and with a wider range of movement contributing more to the buildup. Also, unlike Dzeko, he is a free agent.
Depending on the terms, I prefer a player like Mertens as well. However, the (i) "free agent" part (signing bonus..) and (ii) the reason why he left Napoli (money and contractual term I believe) is why such deal would not be easy. But all in all, and if it's a one-year deal, I would also go for Mertens instead of Dzeko. Having said that, a player like Mertens does not strike me as someone who would like a crazy reduced amount of game time. We've also not seen any reports linking us to him.
They all come down to Earth eventually when their wage demands don't correspond with reality. The longer you stay unemployed the more you sober up during the process about your value. And the signing bonus is there regardless; a higher signing bonus is still less in total than a lower one plus transfer fee. I could see people being skeptical at Mertens' heading ability compared to Dzeko's especially as we rely a lot on crosses, but it would do well to know that for the most part scoring headers is not a matter of winning aerial duels against tall defenders (this is the case when it comes to set pieces) but rather anticipation and heading technique. Mertens is good at both. We should explore the possibility.
So Latasa and Mayoral both gone, and our only depth at the ST position is Mariano? If we don't address this, we're digging our own graves.
Agree, the "false number 9" option of Hazard or Asensio won't wash for a club competing on so many fronts, in a WC year.
Cavani is signing with Boca Juniors. So that leaves Mertens on a free and Dzeko from Inter ? Or keeping Mariano as Benzema's only backup.
Why is everyone so worried about backup striker now? When Benzema would want to play all the games available?
Even Mayoral left when told that he would be the substitute. Turns out most people don't like being told they are a second option.
Barca has a sub: Aubemiyang who scored for them since he came in Jan. 13 goals. They also has Memphis as substitute. Lewa as starter. This can be crucial because RM without Benz playing had some really bad statistics and problem with scoring.
