I remember my Buenos Aires GF back in the 90s always had a shitload of USD tucked away everywhere. She would fly back and forth between Arg and the US or Canada transporting cash all the time - trying to get it out of Argentina for her family. But flights from Argentina to Qatar must be expensive?
You are also missing the neutrals. Half of my friends who don’t even know anything about football want Argentina tickets. When people who wants to experience World Cup travel from neighboring countries they want to see these kind of matches. Hence the demand. Also I have mentioned this before here , the semi finals will have a huge demand from the locals and well of people in the neighboring countries and am pretty sure FIFA knows this , they can sell the cat 1’s and the hospitality more , irrespective or argentina play in them, as long as it’s traditional power houses there will be demand
That was the luck of the draw... and Peru totally blew it. If they lost to Australia, they would have lost to the others I think... Definitely Colombia would have been nice, but they fell asleep in the early stages and could never recover.
So I "get" that neutrals might find ARG matches attractive, but if they're neutrals, they shouldn't be fanatical about it. There's a lot of good matches to see... Not to offend anyone here, but I would rather watch Brazil, Senegal, Spain or France and those tickets were not too tough to secure. As for Mexico, they have the worse squad that I can remember in my lifetime, so again, shouldn't be a big draw for neutrals; and for Mexican supporters, you would think enthusiasm is down a little this cycle. As a fan from Concacaf, Mexico has not been impressive throughout the entire qualifying cycle. Anyway, just find the Group C demand to be a little too crazy...
While I agree with all your points, Match 8 and 24 are in 86k stadium which should make life much easier. And the third match is relatively less interesting although in a smaller stadium. I still think they have not released a lot of tickets. I also think many who bought the tickets will be suprised about the extra costs of group matches (1k / day accomodation + flights) later so I expect more supply to come in later.
Te think which can be interesting if there will be weekend drops also. FIFA seems to operate in the EU work schedule. If there is no release during the weekend, monday morning can be crazy.
Interesting. I only saw two quick drops for ARG MEX today. Both of them had around 4-5 tickets and that’s it.
For some reason, I am loving this hit and miss game with the tickets. Once you successfully cart what you want, the feeling is just something else
Haha, NZ only good with oval balls, even NZ made to the world cup, not much fan are going, was there in 2010, we had only few thousand fan travelled. Anyway, I'm here to watch Argentina, outside the stadium at the moment.
Very odd that people drop this match (on every drop). Just fifa trying to profit more from resale fees I guess..
Somehow got Iran v USA. Was the match I was really keen to see. Iran fans are nuts, saw a few of their games here in Australia in the Asian Cup back in 2015 and loved their passion. This will be an absolute cracking atmosphere.
just missed it for a few seconds the tickets were still showing availability but then got the message, that they are no longer available when pressing "add to art"
Thank you so much for flagging this! I was able to downgrade my CAT 2 ticket to CAT 3 for the match 51.
As many of you know, I’m Argentino living in Argentina. Things are getting rough here, inflation is 100% per annum and peso has devaluated 50% in just 2 weeks Having said, I can assure you there will be significant less argentinos in Qatar, e.g. I run a WhatsApp group of 60 friends and acquaintances and many of them which were planning to go have stepped down due to monies.
It is unfortunate in this world cup that demanded games are together in the same groups KSA, Argentina and Mexico Iran, USA and England It could have been much better if these teams are split around
This is my top game, some more tension like a potential failure of the nuclear talks will add a lot more flavor
