If Pele doesn’t come out and start tallying the goals he scored when playing with his kids in his backyard, Romario is gonna pop up out of nowhere saying he scored 197 goals in finals

True, and out of nowhere Higuain made some headlines with a hattrick, if anyone cares.

Pele won 3 WC , yet he only has 14 WC caps. That's the total of matches of only 2 WC since 1982:laugh:

The bid to host the 2030 WC had officially been presented today

Argentina is doing a joint bid alongside Uruguay, Chile, and Paraguay

I can understand ourselves, Uruguay and Chile but Paraguay? Regardless, if we do manage to receive it, I guess we will be hosting the bulk of the tournament. I’d be surprised if they do award us this tournament. FIFA will make up some excuse saying that “the Americas received in 2026, and we’ll revisit this choice in a later tournament.” I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to Asia, where China gets it because they will surely not bribe FIFA or anything like that.

Spain-Portugal is another bid and sounds absolutely incredible tbh… they already have the infrastructure and would be excellent destinations to explore as a tourist, besides being small regions that would be accessible to travel across throughout the tournament. I would probably go with that bid.

But yes, the likes of China and Saudi Arabia have also expressed interest, so FIFA may suddenly find an appeal in those bids for whatever reason

Spain and Portugal seem like the only viable threat(Without the nonsense of corruption) . The European continent has basically have had every other World Cup. The 2022-2026 would be the largest gap, particularly if 2030 goes elsewhere. I think eventually the Iberian neighbors will get it. I just hope for tradition and whatnot, they give it to South America.

However, if they do decide to do it in South America, I kinda hope they do it in November/December again because a winter World Cup in June-July would be a bit meh. I remember the South African World Cup being terrible. The players wearing long sleeves shirts and whatnot.

Apparently Tottenham are struggling to find a destination for Lo Celso, so they are considering letting him return on loan to Villarreal (this time with an obligation to buy at the end of season).

Would be the best case scenario, imo, rather than having him move to a new team where he would have to adapt again and possibly end up getting sparse minutes leading to the WC

Lo Celso is only 26 years old, but has played for 5 clubs already (Rosario Central, PSG, Tottenham, Real Betis and Villareal). I don't get why his representatives are allowing him to be passed around like a joint at one of my parties. Consistency is what makes players better - if Gio can land for a team like Villareal/Sevilla it would be the best

His best period in Europe was at Betis. He was playing closer to goal. PSG had him playing way too deep. Tottenham did not suit him at all either and the Yellow Submarine’s was also a good period. He needs to play closer to goal for him to shine. Having to constantly defend is not suited in his game.

And speaking of playing in much deeper positions, I noticed Benfica had Enzo playing a bit deep.

Nevertheless, I was looking at what Benfica supporters were saying about him was nothing but praise. It is in Portuguese, so you may have to squint when reading it.

Enzo scored another volley in Benfica's first league game.

I realize Lo Celso is very important to our team and I love his contributions, but Enzo seems to have a better ability to put the ball in the net.

Let's hope he gets a chance soon...

When Di María starts our formation is a 4-2-3-1, not a 4-3-3 as some believe. It's pretty evident since Messi and ADM both play on the center-right and on the right respectively, someone has to play on the left and that is GLC.
Gio can fill in as left winger/left CAM. Enzo can't, he's only a CM.

Only if González starts I can see Enzo playing left midfielder. Otherwise, he's De Paul's substitute.

Gio is also one of the central links to Messi. He connects with him well. Moreover, Gio, Paredes and RDP are a force together. Gio’s spot is fairly safe.

Scaloni has already talked at Enzo meteoric rise. I’d like his inclusion but who gets left out if everybody is healthy?

Then Enzo needs to battle Palacios, MacAllister, and Dominguez for a substitute spot in CM.

This was the 23 that laced them up v Italy. (Remember, at Qatar, we are allowed up to 28).

This does not include the six that did not make the bench (Tucu Correa, Angel Correa, Musso, Ocampos. Senesi, and Nehuen). Dropping the fourth goalie, this will give us 28. So, Enzo will be fighting with only Mac, IMO. Scaloni is an admirer of Tucu Palacios, and I do not think he will get dropped. Dominguez is out of the picture. Also, I think they are going to continue with the status quo and give you 23 players on the bench with 5 missing the cut. You can alternate game to game but 23 will be the limit on the bench. There could be a possibility that an extra defender like Perez is dropped. I think 90-95% of the list is complete as of today.

    It's 26 players.

Barring injuries or massive performance drop I'm expecting this:

    100% going (20 players)

    GK - Dibu, Armani.
DF - Molina, Montiel, Romero, Otamendi, Pezzella, L. Martinez, Acuña, Tagliafico.
MF - De Paul, Paredes, Guido, Lo Celso, Papu.
FW - Messi, ADM, González, Lautaro, Alvarez.

    To be determined (6 places)

    -Musso or Rulli
    -Foyth or Senesi or Perez
-2 out of Palacios, Enzo, Mac Allister, Dominguez.
-2 out of Dybala, J. Correa, A. Correa, Ocampos.

Also, I'd would like to see what Garnacho will do at United these next few months, it's looking like he will see plenty playing time.

I agree with your list of the players who are 100% going.

From the 6 remaining places list, I'm probably guessing Scaloni will pick

    -Rulli
    -Foyth

-Palacios (Scaloni loves the kid and I think he's 95% going), Mac Allister (from all the news that I've seen, he is going to join)
-Tucu (honestly I would pick A. Correa or Garnacho over Tucu), Dybala (as long as he gets consistent minutes in Roma, then he'll be in the squad)

    26* I knew 28 felt off.

I did bring up Garnacho some months back. If he goes all out and is productive, I’d like to see him snatch a spot. Because the Gallegos can still offer him spot as well, let’s not forget that. I think taking him would be great but he has to deserve to go. He’s got a couple months to show what he’s got. I’d rather take him than somebody like Tucu Correa.

Dybala, I still think needs to fight for his spot. Just because he scored, does not mean he’ll go. Scaloni still seems a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on him. Perhaps it is his way of motivating him.

I think the defense we will need to be a bit more secure. As I’ve mentioned before, that Cuti and or Ota will be suspended one game. Licha is a great option but my fear is that we may get Pezzella and Otamendi in some knockout match. But I believe Scaloni will come to his senses and have Licha leapfrogging Pezzella. But the likes of Foyth and Senesi would also be good options. In a perfect world, I’d leave Pezzella at home. But again, Scaloni perhaps values his experience and whatnot. Perhaps a Micho type of player who can give you a game or two when called upon. I’d take Foyth and I think Scaloni may as well since he values versatile players. Yet, as a pure CB that option between Senesi and Foyth could become murky. Not to mention, Senesi might be on the move to a new league, which could complicate matters.

The next month or two it will be an audition for several players. They need to go all out and showcase what they’re made out of.
