Angel Correa scored a great volley in pre season game, also had an assist in the game. I'd easily pick him and Dybala instead of Tucu. When you needed a goal out of nowhere, sometimes players like him or Dybala could deliver. I remember at the end of last season where Atletico needed to win their last game and they were down 0-1 and A.Correa pulled a Messi to equalized. Tucu will gives you Pipita types of misses 19 out of 20 times.
Tucu is a poor man's Pipita - and I don't have a high opinion of Higuain's production for the NT. The starting #9 is going to be Lautaro Martinez. IMO, the backups should either be a player that can come-off the bench and have a "heat-check" performance or a player that can do something different than L Martinez.
Yea , at least Higuain gives you goals when its not a final, but I think our worry would be in case Lautaro's injured/unfit, there's no direct replacement . Aguero used to be Higuain's direct sub but now the closest would be Dybala if we're talking about forward that could play as a #9 when needed. Nico is winger forward like Lavezzi, so does A.Correa , and J.Correa only ability is to sprint fast on counter, and off course its always ended with him blowing his chances. I think he blew 3 easy chances against Venezuela, and its Venezuela not France or Germany.
The quality of these goals! — https://t.co/ZTaFKZgvQa— All About Argentina 🛎🇦🇷 (@AlbicelesteTalk) July 26, 2022
Interesting stat I came across— FIFA World Cup stats since Leo Messi's debut : •Most Goals:Klose(11) •Most Assists:Messi (8)(Opta-5) •Most Dribbles: Messi(110) (Highest all-time) •Most Key Passes: Messi(54) •Most Through Balls: Messi(17) •Most Big Chances Created: Messi(12) •Most Man of the match awards Messi (6)
Tucu and Pipita are nothing alike. If Lautaro comes off and if it is J.Correa, it changes the form and dynamic of the team. Tucu becomes more of a decoy, where he has speed and can blow by a tired defender. He’ll drag defenders out of position for other attacking players. As we have seen, Scaloni likes the modern player, who is more of an athlete. Long and quick, who can play different positions. Correa has similar traits to Nico G, who appears to be a backup to ADM. The more natural backups to Lautaro would have to be Julian or Paulo, which Julian was the sub for Lautaro v Italy. I think we will be fine. I expect Dybala to have a strong start of the season, where he’ll be motivated to get back at his doubters.
Argentina to play Egypt before the start of the WC. Wondering who September’s opponents will be. Guessing that all hinges on the Brazil game appeals.
Also read rumours that we might face United Arab Emirates before the start of the WC. For obvious reasons, hopefully we get to face Egypt.
I think Egypt is good option. Playing powerhouse team just before the WC isnt good idea. Only makes them able to analyze our game. Those wins in friendlies against Germany in between WC proof to be worthless since they beat us when it matters, even if its mostly a very close game .
Yeah, we’ve been lucky at the end of this cycle getting to face some of the better teams that didn’t qualify in Italy, Colombia, and hopefully Egypt…but of course there were also some bad teams sprinkled in there, such as Chile.
The game is meant to be played about 10 days before the World Cup. Egypt are not going to be at the World Cup, so they have nothin to lose and will play for pride. They’ll go in for strong tackles and whatnot because they won’t have to worry about injuries. I’d personally skip the match if we are being honest. If the game was played in Sept or even early October, I’d be fine with it but 10 days out? I’m not so sure.
Maybe Scaloni will fields many of the second strings... ? For players who rarely gets playing time, it would good for them to get extended minutes in match like this. Licha for intense has only played few games under Scaloni, and it would great to test the likes of Foyth , Palacios and Senesi aswell (If they do make it to final list). Also hoping Alvarez to start in remaining friendlies and gets few goals to boost in confidence.

I think Messi has 6 assists not 8, if you're counting direct assist. If you count his shot which deflected by the post against S.Korea and Higuain scored on rebound and his pass from FK against Bosnia which deflected slightly by our defender, then it would be 8 assists.
Pep after seeing Julian play two pre-season friendlies with Man City: "With Julian Alvarez we did not commit a mistake. We knew he was a fantastic kid and we proved it. He is an absolute team player, it is apparent by the effort he puts in. And he has a knack for goals. When the ball lands on his feet, he has the goal between eyebrow and eyebrow [direct translation, but pretty much saying he immediately has his eyes on the target]. I think he has been an extraordinary signing who will stay with us for several years and will help us a lot." Guardiola elogiando a Julián 🥹❤️ pic.twitter.com/1MPaLiN3dD— rebeldía y gambetas. First chance for Julian to see some official action: he'll be on the bench today vs. Liverpool for the Community Shield Hopefully he gets some minutes and, why not, a goal...
Not his prettiest but Julián Álvarez is up and running with a goal for Man City. Not the result wanted but a big season ahead for the spider pic.twitter.com/NyDPNO50fU— GOLAZO (@golazoargentino) July 30, 2022
I had no idea Walter Benitez had left Nice. He made his debut with PSV today and won the Dutch Supercup vs Ajax
Garnacho started against Vallecano. Mighty impressive performance with his effort and skills on display. Did not look out of place although it was Vallecano. ten Haag will probably have him in the first team squad on the bench from the get go. There's a huge amount of excitement surrounding him in Manchester. Let's hope he continues to grow. Romero, Alcaraz, Fernandez and Garnacho out wide we're all set for the future.
That goal was vintage Messi, similar to his goal vs Bayern in 2015. His acceleration & quickness has returned. He's been using his right foot many times in recent time, even in training footage.
