casino to the old tribune site preferred to a lakefront site, but seems like it may be a cluster******** if they don't really push for good transit access instead of car access
What a terrible location. Awful congestion, narrow streets (Chicago Ave. and Halsted? A joke). No access to the Expressways. No access to Lake Shore Drive. I don't even see how they could add public transit there. 7 blocks to the nearest EL (Brown and Orange to the East, Blue to the West, Blue at Grand and Halsted to the South). People fly in from O'Hare, get out at Chicago Blue Line (ick) and, what, walk or taxi/Uber to the casino? The only thing it has going for it is that it would be on River.
the Grand blue line stop will be pretty close to the SW corner of the site -- I think that'll be the casino stop
I was looking at a map and that looks like a possibility Assuming the entrance would be on Chicago, it would still be a ways away.

I don't even know what minor league teams are currently in the Chicagoland area I know there's one in Gary, maybe one up near Rosemont/O'hare, yeah?
Bill Larsen, former general manager of the Kane County Cougars minor league baseball team, wants to see a minor league baseball complex
I think so? Last time I was in Joliet 6 months or so ago seemed like they had a team playing at the stadium there
The Cougars have to be one of the best run sports franchises around. I have no interest in baseball whatsoever, but I love going to Cougar's games with the family. Also, it's economical to eat (drink) at the stadium. I fed my family of 5, with a beer each for me and the wife for like $25.
...and I live 275 miles away. Don't hear too much about minor league baseball, except about the mighty Wausau Woodchucks, who play the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders next week.
This might be the greatest name in sports. Those dock spiders are persistent. Every day, I clean off all the dock spiders/webs. Every morning they're back again.
That was why I posted it. I thought it was a great name, as well. From their Wikipedia page: "A name-the-team contest was held, with the five finalists being Barn Owls, Dock Spiders, Lake Flies, Pipsqueaks and Shantymen." I like Shantymen, Pipsqueaks and Lake Flies, but Dock Spiders was the best. There is some creativity in Fond du Lac!
Yep, an awesome name and logo. Second best logo ever. Next to the Chicago Fire Latin King's crown, of course. That is their "alternative" logo. This is the "official" logo: The growler one is a 1,000 times better.
