Just came back from an mls game. Never been to one before and had nothing going on for 4th of July. Level of play is extremely low. I have to say our guys were nonexistent. Jhegson was ok-ish seemed rather out of shape and Estrada was a ghost.
Really good move indeed. Would help him get used to the faster pace of European football. Every time I go to an Orlando City game I feel like the players move in slow motion lol
Copa libertadores is a freaking joke. It’s most likely another Brazilian team wins it this year. Here comes Flamengo with another mid tournament star signing with Vidal. How did Cerro and Tolima get this far and both lose to a combined 8 goals? any of our teams would have done a better job than those garbage teams.
We just had atrocious group stage showings. Admittedly, the toughest point to reconcile is WHY we were so bad and left Emelec to duke it out alone in the group stage. This is basically the equivalent of what happens in Europe- it's almost a foregone conclusion that teams with the biggest budgets will make it into the top 16, and then there are some dogfights with a smaller number of upsets. I personally think it's great that Flamengo, River, Boca, and others can command wages high enough to keep some talent in LATAM- it enhances the quality of play overall. Brazil is a MASSIVE media market with tons of teams with great reputation. It's a prime league to stabilize and build up some really strong teams beyond just Palmeiras, Flamengo, and Sao Paulo. It would also be great to see a SA team win the club world cup, but that's just a long shot considering wage disparities and budgets.
CONMEBOL needs to stop allowing them to make signings once the group stage is over. Our teams are the only ones that can put up a fight against the bigger two leagues but our teams tend to be inconsistent too. We definitely surpassed the Colombian league now though given how both their champions (Tolima and Deportivo Cali) got eliminated either by a large scoreline or by a Peruvian team (no offense but their level of football is a notch less than the other leagues).
I think it’s a formula that works well for the Brazilians too well. They have more cupos, therefore they have more chances to win and therefore they keep earning more money to spend, keeping the other teams from investing in themselves. Endless cycle. Winner earns at least $15 million. Do you think if any team that wins that amount of money. Let’s say IDV, they’d be good at reinvesting it? I think so. It would amount to become a threat to the Brazilians. Shit man, before they even had real prize money those argentinos and brasileños conmebol dirigentes would pocket it for themselves.
Talleres and velez are 23rd and 24th respectively (out of 28, awful format) and one of them is going to the semi finals. Fortaleza made it to Round 16 and might get regulated this year lol.
Bauman got an unlucky red card. Im glad they made some good signings Ayovi will come in handy for their next match I remember in 2016 when Tin Angulo had a small injury in the final they really didnt have anyone else at that time. Im glad they made signing to have some depth to their squad I think we will be seeing a more consistent IDV.
Feel bad for Rojas. Pushed for a transfer and will be out for 8 months without even paying a full game.
It's terrible timing and I hope he has a speedy and complete recovery. You hate to see this happen. That being said, who is his replacement on the NT?
Sarmiento and Romario Ibarra are the ones who'd go to Qatar right now. Ayrton Preciado should return from injury soon. Alexander Alvarado is the player I'd say who moved up in the depth chart. Maybe Anderson Julio will get an opportunity now.
yea guys like Anderson, Jhojan, and Washington Corozo were behind him cause they dont have consistency. Sarmiento, Romario, Alvarado are it and Id rather see Enner on the wing than up front so that our options for LW.
True, but he does fill a slot in the roster of 26 as of the most recent friendlies...who is the ideal replacement even if he is also a replacement- now that he is guaranteed to miss the WC?
After Sarmiento, Romario, Alvarado, and even Enner. I guess Janner Corozo, then Anderson, then jhojan julio, Washington Corozo, then Nilson Angulo then Anthony Valencia in that order but after Janner there all pretty inconsistent/just changed teams so It can easily go to either one of them who ever gets in best form/ most playing time. Janner will most likely be the most consistent of all.
Do you guys think that the competition for GK spot is heating up? Ortiz from Emelec seems to be in better form right now.
Honestly I think we are at a point where due to their age anyone could go into an amazing form. They are about to go to a wc and Ecuadorian gk are growing. Anyone can have that starting gk spot. I think one of these gk could be a surpriser of the tournament. Our nt can easily have and always had the potential to have an amazing gk.
I think the coach will act pragmatically and call up Dida, Galindez, and Ramirez. Taking an untested GK to the WC is a massive risk. There is upside, but it'd be the wrong time to start experimenting. Any GK can have a bad match...it happens, but you know they'll leverage the experience to learn. On the other hand, an untested GK getting mauled in a WC in front of a global audience might ruin his career.
We never really seem to have a consistent started for that position. Dida had to battle out that spot alot vs Banguera in the past. Now he up vs Galindez, Ramirez and Ortiz. Dida, Galindez, and Ortiz are very experienced these guys can go into their peak form at any moment. Ramirez has alot of potential it would be hard not to take him to the WC. It really between these 3 or 4 gk.
Unless they're injured Galindez and Dominguez will go to Qatar. I don't see the point of taking 4 GKs. Three should suffice. That roster spot would be better served by taking a versatile midfielder. Undoubtedly I'm biased but Ortiz is the Ecuadorian GK that's currently in the best form. A month or two from now that can change.
I was listening to some talk show hosts about this. LOL why is 4 GKs even a suggestion or a topic? Statistically even the 3rd keeper has never played a WC (aside from 2 instances). Dida has WC experience, Galindez has busted his ass every game he's played. Esos dos van asi esten jugando en Guatemala. Add in Ramirez y ya.
Sebastián Méndez is Black & Gold.📝 #LAFC acquires Ecuadorian midfielder Sebastián Méndez from @OrlandoCitySC.— LAFC (@LAFC) July 19, 2022 Mendez was no longer getting consistent minutes. A change of scenery can serve him well.
