I really don't recommend it. Mobile browsers put background tabs to sleep really quickly. And after the screen is turned off, the entire device goes to a deep sleep state after some time. Even desktop browsers are mean to inactive tabs. Thus my suggestion of a separate browser for it.
Thanks for taking the time to do something like this. I'm sure this will change at least one person's tournament and life! Cheers to contributing to bringing back the old spirit of the forum of everyone helping each other.
You're a legend mate. Do you accept gifts? Like a cup of coffee or something? Any payment gateways or Paypal to send gifts? Or I can buy you a "beer" in Qatar?
Hi guys, What do you suggest is the best way to buy fan gear items before attending World Cup stadiums? Things like jerseys, flags, scarves, etc. Should we buy it before traveling to Qatar? I've never been to a World Cup, was wondering if they would sell fan gear and merchandise for all teams near the stadiums on the match day? Would it be cheaper to buy in advance or over there?
You should be able to buy gear in Qatar, whether or not you like the gear on offer and at the price posted is another matter... Below is a picture of the largest of the official FIFA shops that were open at the 2018 WC in Russia. And at each stadium there were smaller shops/kiosks to buy fan gear. This shop was at the Moscow Fan Fest and had a large selection of items for most teams, but especially for the popular teams. I don't recall everything that was there, but jerseys and scarfs were for sale, and probably a lot of little things like key-rings and cups. maybe someone on here can give a better rundown of what was on offer in the official shops. The smaller shops at the stadiums had fewer items for sale and a much smaller selection of teams to choose from, usually the teams playing at that stadium. Expect that there will be plenty of shops in the malls selling stuff, but likely more expensive than what you could buy online or at your local market.
Out of all the covid restriction, pre-covid test before flight will probably stay for the tournament. Even with covid being mild with this variant , qatar wouldn’t want a positive person to travel by flight and mix with the crowd spreading it to thousands of people. Red list countries should vanish , this is a major income for the hotels, but with hotels not being available. it is not feasible to keep it.
Man, you are quite lucky with the alcohol rules in Qatar, if they were not exist, you might have died of overdose of all the free beers you’d get.
The problem is that this could be really the worst. I mean you invested 1000s and a lot of work to organize your schedule, you wait for the moment, and you are denied because of a single positive test even if you are assymptomatic/very mild? The neutral process of everBody getting infected made this virus not really threatening to anyone who has a decent health. Forcing this shit to people is stupid, damaging, dictatoric and dangerous for our future.
This is the best explanation that I have seen for the continued use of the red list and why it has pretty much only the migrant worker source countries for Qatar on it still. Another pretty shameful example of exploitation of people from those countries, if true. And using the excuse of COVID to do it. I don't want to wade too far off topic, but that is really disgusting. And it also affects those of us planning to visit Egypt, India, or other countries on that red list before the World Cup. That is what makes me angry from a selfish personal standpoint.
But this rule was also there for the Euro 2020. I just took an insurance which had Covid included. For a small country like Qatar, it is only logical to assume, risk management will play an important role when they are expecting 1.2 million people to visit in one month. I would expect this rule to stay.
Nice work. This is what we want . But I have still one question. I see the availabilty based on the domestic portal (Qatar only) and not the international. How can I know when tickets for example match 12 will be available for us?
Hi everyone, first post on BS but have been following for a few months now. It’s been an invaluable resource given this is the first WC I have the good fortune to attend. It’s kind of snowballed out of control for me given it’s gone from travelling to Qatar for a week after obtaining a 4 match stadium series ticket back in March to now staying for around 3 weeks given I’ve managed to obtain further tickets. All up 7 group matches including 2 Australia games, 3xR16 games including the slight possibility (1%) of Argentina V Australia and the big one the actual World Cup Final. I was lucky enough to snatch a couple of category 3’s for me and my son when they dropped momentarily around midnight Australia time last Tuesday. We were just waiting and trying for a couple of extra group games when the miracle happened. My son grabbed the mouse off me for maybe a minute and yelled out to me that WCF tickets for available. Kind of a hand of God moment I guess since this was the only time he took control of the computer. Carted them straight away and woke the household up screaming and yelling when payment was confirmed. Simply Kismet, it was just meant to be. The final was never ever in the equation, too hard I thought. I’m still stunned and overwhelmed by the thought of being at a WCF. So now we’ll have around 10 days to fill between the R16 games and the final so I’ll be trying for q/f and s/f tickets. The WC budget has well and truly been blown out the water but even my wife doesn’t mind. She knows how much I love the game. So again a big thank you to everyone on here that have shared their thoughts and tips on the ticketing process. Wouldn’t be fulfilling a lifelong dream otherwise.
awesome stuff @herewegoagain !! I personally have what I need but appreciate you helping out so many people this way.
