Talking about the scanner in previous WCs, I know @Scorpyn78 did it “for the love of the game” and he says he’s retired now, but I for one would be glad to give a donation or something to make a new scanner happen for this WC, I think many of the people here would gladly chip in too. I don’t know how it can be done, maybe a PayPal account or a gofund me page but I think with the right motivation we might persuade him to come back for one last dance. What do you guys think? I think it’s only fair he gets some sort of compensation for a very valuable tool.
Oh I already have it, I got it in Florida in March, I just need to be able to get the QR that proves it.
I cancelled my original application and then re-booked another accommodation. It took about 8 hours for the ID to re-verify. It was quite stressful but luckily the option I wanted was still available
I waited 8 hours.... it was 3 am in Aus when I finally got there... And I had fever as I had fever... but finally almost got one ticket per day for all 15 days that I'm in Qatar... I only need M54 now, and then I can rest lol
Any place, like a Facebook group or something to find and make friends with others who will be in Qatar? I'll traveling alone, and it'll be my first WC experience, so I really look forward to finding friends to experience it together.
Somebody else posted that they bought a Category 2 ticket, but could only cart and pay for 1 ticket. I was going for multiple tickets and could not cart and pay for them. Then they completely disappeared very quickly.
See this article where it's stated (emphasis mine): "Hayya Digital Card is also available in the physical form for fans and that can be collected from our collection points but the digital one is sufficient," said Saeed Al Kuwari, executive director of the Hayya platform.
Idk man 5/6 final tickets were available or was a glitch most probably,i carted it but couldn’t checkout,Fifa isn’t gonna take responsibility and say it was a glitch but would rather say it was very very high demand Semi’s were very easy to get last FCFS I didn’t see any Semis or finals during the first 4-5 hours of the second FCFS
It's very much clear that we will have another wave of the pandemic. We will see how they are going to deal with it.
Well you may well be correct. I'm not sure whether I would think that is a good thing or not. However, since the start of the pandemic there will not have been another event on the planet like it. A tiny country, which is basically just a city, having such a large influx of people to stay, spread out everywhere around the city and living amongst players, officials, media teams, volunteers etc for more than a month. This is a place where infrastructure is being created at pace. Creating field hospitals would be relatively straightforward I would have thought, but not particularly pleasant. If they let it rip there it could be a disaster regardless of the mortality rates with postponements, reschedulings etc. Given the very sizable investment, they would surely try to protect it. Presumably people will start arriving in greater numbers end October so we should expect some communication before then.
Not getting into politics, but just science, is it really a pandemic anymore with mortality rates so low? I mean I don't want to catch a bad cold or pneumonia, but I would not advocate for quarantines to prevent it. It seems that it is time to learn to live with it. A decision that all of Qatar's neighbors seem to have made when they dropped all of their requirements. Not sure why Qatar feels the need to be different, or why they have countries like the Philippines and Sri Lanka on their "Red List."
Having just made a couple of business trips in the USA, and passed through several airports, I would say that every major city in the USA is experiencing this pretty much every day now in the summer travel season.
The word pandemic carries no specific mortality rate requirements: it only refers to the proliferation of an infectious disease. As for a coming increase... I have become painfully aware that this is likely the case. I'm fully vaxed and boosted and wear a mask whenever I (rarely) go out. But I'm writing this from bed with a nasty case of the Omicron (4-5 days old)
Hope you get better soon. I had it a couple of months ago. It just felt like a bad cold and I was fine after about a week.
It's not even every state, in the US the states can't work as one country. So doubt it would apply to tourist
Yeah, kinda like we have a Spanish Flu wave every year. I believe we’re on wave 100+. These things never go away; humans just find a way to live with them. I don’t think we’re there yet with Covid
