So Gattuso favored a 4231 at Napoli with Fabian and Anguissa in a sort of double pivot but with Fabian in a far more attacking role... I wonder if Gattuso will trust Musah in the Anguissa spot, especially seeing how no one on the current roster really profiles as a ground covering, ball carrying center mid. TBD if he even sticks with the same system, but seems like a good opportunity for our young midfielder to learn some defensive chops from one of the most tenacious guys to ever play the game.
Fiorentina interest? https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/ser...a-piace-il-talento-statunitense-musah-1696220
You can see why he picked America, he's pretty US in this interview: good shit from both of them, easy to forget how young these guys are honestly.
“I’m a chef!” and then goes on to describe a pretty rudimentary meal. Good stuff indeed! Musah’s English has really improved from the first interview I remember him giving, though now he’s starting to sound like a Brit. Like him more and more as a human and obvi he’s a dadgum beast on the field.
the good thing (for musah/us) is theres no true right mid in there, so whatever mid role he plays will be more germane to nt play
I feel like Valencia would be crazy to sell right now. The only thing really lacking in his game at the moment is the killer final pass. If he can find that, and have a stellar world cup, his valuation should increase significantly by January alone. I don't know how we landed him, but i am immensely happy that we did.
I think he's a great player, but he may not be refined enough for Valenica's taste, who have often played with a Barca-light tiki-taka style. Italy or even the EPL might be a better landing place for him, where his workmanlike style will receive more appreciation.
They'd love him in Italy. They seem to love any midfielder that can carry the ball forward, final pass or not.
Seems like an odd move for Fiorentina, who has two great midfielders already, and nobody who can put the ball in the back of the net. Don't get me wrong, if they build a mid 3 of Yusef, Bonaventura, and Castrovelli it could be fun to watch, but it's not where their need is right now. They need a #9.
Sure! But they have adequate midfielders. Amrabat, Duncan, Saponora are all fine. They have some okay forwards - Ikone, Gonzalez, Cabral - but *none* of them can consistently put the ball in the back of the net. They need a replacement for Vulhavic.
https://www.superdeporte.es/valencia-cf/2022/07/10/hay-debate-yunus-musah-juega-68192165.html This article says that even though Valencia's squad is severely lacking in wingers right now, Gattuso is not going to move Musah around the pitch to fill in that gap like prior managers have. In training, Gattuso has been playing him exclusively as a central midfielder, and it sounds like he really rates him there, and is invested in his development.
Thank you, Jesus. Berhalter needs to send Guttuso a gift basket and an envelop of cash as a thank you.
No kidding. This is a blessing for us. IMO he still has a lot to learn as a CM and even more as a CDM. Playing in the center of the midfield in La Liga is just the place for him to elevate his game. Could end up being the best player we have. He is just that talented.
Yeah.... well thought so too until I looked up his age. I am just 4 years younger. But I sure as shit don't look at old as Gattauso even with a spackle of gray in my beard. He looks weather and oooooold.
i mean….. that’s true. I did just have a second kid at 40. Almost 9 years between the two kids so anything can happen.
