Other U22 players playing in Europe - William Pacho, Antony Valencia, Johan Mina, Mike Cevallos, Fulton Medina, and Emerson Espinoza (havent heard about him in awhile).

Some other players that I think will make the move to Europe are Jhoanner Chavez, Patrik Mercado, Oscar Zambrano, and Joel Ordoñez. Ecuador has a bright future ahead.

    This was always the vision.

Dusan's dream took over 30 years to achieve, and we're finally seeing the fruits of that initial investment. Later on, it took IDV over a decade to build up that cantera and produce a model that also has a clear ROI for footballing quality. The rest of the teams, overall, are legitimized as a result. Our young guys need to really start playing hard and start consolidating their positions on teams across the old continent, and we'll be at the same level of a Colombia when it comes to slotting talent on larger market/higher tiers. This is an exciting infographic and I'm proud that we've all got to see this materialize...it's another step on a longer journey to make our footballers truly world class.

I believe this is symptomatic of coaching. Alfaro's own tactics are generally predictable and unexciting. He's done well to elevate the game of many of the players and has molded a young team to look lethal in later years. We need to now make the next leap forward with a Pekerman-esque coach who can get the guys further...I just don't think profe Alfaro is the guy for that tbh.

Saw and interview and this is going to be decided after the WC. The way he was talking about it, I got a feeling he’s not going to be here either way. If we do real good he’s going to be gone as we won’t be able to afford him.

Funny how they have Almeida as anchor and a couple of us predicted he is going to be converted to one eventually lol

Ordoñez is heavily linked to my team (AC Milan) but he should go to Belgium as well since he won't have playing time in Milan.

No shade against AC Milan but if the rumors are true then he should look to join another team. Italy in general doesn't have a good track record when it comes to giving young talent an opportunity to play. There's a lot of pressure involved when playing for a team like AC Milan. He should look to follow the William Pacho or Patrickson Delgado route. Belgium, Holland, Portugal, and Germany would be good destinations in Europe.

Long term I don't think Diego Almeida plays as a CB. I expect him to transition to the midfield.

That's true about Italy being antiquated but Milan is the exception. We just won Serie A with the youngest squad ever but it's just competition in the back is too much. If Hincapie or Moises came I wouldn't be worried since they are high level players, but Joel is too green still.

Almeida's passing would be appreciated higher up and it doesn't expose his shaky defense.

Teams like AC Milan are hotbeds of competition. Same with Inter, Juventus, Roma, Napoli, etc....

If he gets the shot to go there, it's a great leap forward for his career and the entirety of Ecuadorian football. The same as one of our guys going to an elite PL or La Liga club. These are the upper echelons of football that our guys are still trying to crack. With the exception of Toño Valencia who did it, everyone is still a peg under.

Going to the big squad requires a unique mindset. This is what needs to get adapted. Trying your best isn't enough. This is the day-in-day-out struggle of maintaining optimal physical conditioning and a killer instinct mentality. Young guys can do it too, and if they are hungry enough and focused, there is no reason why he can't crack the first team. That's only 1/2 the battle. The next is maintaining consistency to not get knocked down.

I'm in full support of a move to AC Milan and I hope it happens. These are the mental trials that we need to start putting in front of our guys. It legitimizes the entirety of the country's footballing chops.

It'd be a big deal for an Ecuadorian player to join a team like AC Milan. Unless I'm missing someone, Antonio Valencia (Manchester United) and Felipe Caicedo (Inter Milan) are the only two players that have played for big European clubs. Joel Ordoñez still has a lot of development ahead of him. What's AC Milan's track record in developing CBs? What's the depth chart look like? What would their short and long term plan be for Ordoñez? These are important questions the player and his advisors have to ask themselves. Moises Caicedo is a good case study. He chose to go to Brighton instead of going to a bigger European club. He received interest from some big clubs. Where would he be now if he had gone to Chelsea or Manchester United.

Players have to compete day in and day out for playing time. Not all players can handle that kind of pressure. Would Ordoñez be able to? We don't know enough about the kid to know for certain. I'm not sure if Joel Ordoñez makes the move to el exterior this summer. It's possible IDV hold on to him and sell him in the next winter transfer window. Whenever he does make the move I hope he chooses wisely.

Moises did not choose Brighton- Manchester United, Milan, and a few others dropped off the bidding wagon because of the murky folks around Caicedo that made the transfer seem shadier and shadier. Brighton put in a bid, and IDV accepted. In other circumstances, they might have lost out on the bid.

Felipe Caicedo went to Inter but he barely touched the pitch. Injuries really plagued his stay. He also wasn't renewed.

Just got an Adidas mls jersey. I have to say our Marathon Sports jerseys are a lot nicer.

    ABSOLUTELY!!!!

The sad reality is market accessibility....and a telling sign of where either distribution channels or fulfillment is a challenge. Marathon absolutely needs a US-based distribution service via Amazon or a legally incorporated company. An alternative is a US partner like 593Sports, but without the brutal markups.

I'm already looking at July's announcement and release of the World Cup kit and seeing who I know is going to Ecuador to bring back the jersey and jacket.

Dominguez is playing the colombian final tonight and MY GOD, this man is going throughhhhh it. 2 goals completely on him, the first was a ball he should've scooped. The second was a shot from behind the half field line and completely inexplicable, he got caught catching flies.

Classic Dominguez performance. He should be behind Galindez.

I'm surprised he started all three friendly games. I'm not sure why Galindez didn't get playing time.

I think it can be possible. I think they’re in the Peruvian market and perhaps Bolivia too? They also manufacture the conmebol referee equipment from what I’ve seen.

I was wondering the same. Galindez should have started at least one of those. Dida will have good games but he will also guarantee you a shocker in between.

It was chilling to watch and rewatch. I wish him a speedy recovery.

He's going to be out for approximately 3.5 months before he can get back to full speed, which is a very tight window to see if he'll be match fit for a possible World Cup squad consideration. You hate to see it. Although he's a bench warmer at the moment, he has enough experience, and is actually one of the senior members of the squad, so his "baja" hurts the locker room. He's really cleaned up his antics after the COVID-19 favela partying.

    Wishing Arboleda the best.

Horrible news. This opens the window for a fringe option like Porozo to be considered. While also solidifying the Hincapie/Torres dupla.

Didnt Antonio Valencia suffer a similar injury? If I remember correctly he was out from September until March. Obviously it could be that Toño's injury was more severe. I hope Arboleda makes it back in time for the World Cup. Nothing against Felix Torres but personally I think Arboleda is the superior player. Assuming injuries don't play a factor Torres and Hincapie are locks. Alfaro may take 5 CBs so that leaves 3 spots open. Porozo, Arreaga, and Leon would be the other 3. It's a big loss if Arboleda doesn't recover in time. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Good move by Franco. The WC is a couple of months away so he needs to stay in rhythm. I think Ramirez leaving Charlotte FC has something to do with him changing teams. The Argentinean league is also a better league.

When Ecuador, Perú and Bolivia all make it to the world cup and Marathon makes all their kits could really be a game changer.

Galindez has been having alot of issues in Chile I know he wants to leave but his team won't let him go for free. Hope his situation gets better.

I walked into this restaurant and they’re showing some game and I think Mena missed this one on one against what it looked like to be an Univision comentarista.
