Well some of his selections and decisions are baffling at the best of times

There is no way Phillips will stay at Leeds if they go down.

Though his form this year even considering his injuries has been very poor so he's in that bunch who could really do with a strong start to next season. I think he has enough goodwill from the Euro's he'd make the squad regardless mind you.

Guess it depends somewhat on his contract situation

All eight players nominated for PL young player of the season are English. That’s good news
    The players are
Rice, Alexander - Arnold, Foden, Gallagher, Mitchell, Mount, Ramsdale and Saka

Who would have guessed through this time last year eight English players get nominated for young player of the season and none of them are Sancho?

Hate to say it but I’ve always considered Sancho slightly overrated. People questioning why Saka was starting over him at the Euros that neither a) watched the Bundesliga or b) appreciated that it’s a level below the PL.

    --------------------------------Ramsdale

    TAA------------ ( ____ ) ---------------- ( ___ )------------------ Mitchell

    ----------------------Rice---------Mount---------Gallagher

    ----------------------Saka--------( ___ )-------Foden

Now we just need 2 CB and a Striker.

There's no way Saka or Foden should be getting it over Mount. He's been one of the most productive players in the league. Only Salah, Son, Kane and De Bruyne are ahead of him in goal involvements this season.

Best player over the whole season has to be Cancelo imho

I think it’s been a bit of a strange situation with regard to City this season imo as I think many have had their moments throughout the season but also had periods of poorer form but all seemed to compliment each other for compensating for when players had poorer form others stepped up and it went round in a bit of a circle if you know what I mean but one of our most consistent players has been Rodri but because he doesn’t get the productive numbers ( overrated imho ) he doesn’t get a look in. Even Kev, Foden ( not really his fault being played as a false 9 most of the season ) and Cancelo have had poor form at certain parts of the season but Rodri has been performing at a higher level for a more consistent time imho but doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

Yeah I had some concerns when he came over based on just how many of his goals and assists were based on teams playing ridiculously high lines which isn't really something you get in the premier.

Actually watching Dortmund I do somewhat question how good they actually are for player development, people look good there but the success of people moving from there is limited. A lot of their games are very very open, very favourable to attacking players for numbers for actual development i'm much less sure. I'd be happier if Bellingham moved out of there sooner rather than later.

It's funny because German coaches are so en vogue but Bundesliga but outside a few well drilled teams a lot of games resemble playground football. Lots of high pressing, lots of high llines, lots of it done very badly.

Only if the new manager realises that the best way to get the best out of him is having attacking fullbacks helping him to create space otherwise it will be just the same imo.

Mason Mount must hate Wembley. He has now lost six finals there. Not a good venue for a talented England Player (albeit one that has never really performed for England yet.) to have such a bad record at. Both finals Chelsea lost this year he had high profile errors.

I suspect Saka might win the young player award because half the result is a public vote and he seems the one with most fans who are not Arsenal fans. I don’t think it be Foden or Mount because those two have a minority section of their own club fans on Twitter who seem to hate them and not so many fans elsewhere.

I think he will be called up every meet-up until the World Cup but might then retire from international football.

The narrative around Mount should be that a lad of 23 has managed to play a big part in getting his teams to 7 finals.

Agree with this. They both take the full back position to the next level.

True. But this is the shallow mentality of football fans. You’re either first or last. I suppose Mount has his Champions League winners medal to take the sting out of it all.

8 finals if you include both the club World Cup and play off final.
