I am pretty sure it's actually Barcelona dictating terms. If Barcelona is willing to give her a starting spot, she will come. She wants to win titles, she wants to compete for Golden Ball etc, but if Barcelona can only offer her rotation with Hermoso, I think it's not good enough for her and it probably doesn't make sense for Barca as well, if Hermoso is staying.

Otherwise, a best-case scenario for Arsenal if Miedema stays, is another title race in WSL with Chelsea and City and maybe 1/4 or 1/2 of CL depends on a draw.

This Arsenal team would never ever win CL in a million years. Barca destroyed them this season to a point that Arsenal was losing 4-0 and couldn't get the ball just to connect a few passes or keep any sort of possession, it was painful to watch them.

I think Wolfsburg, Bayern, Lyon would beat Arsenal without too much problem as well, perhaps even PSG, Juve and Chelsea.

Not sure why Miedema would stay in Arsenal if she wants to win titles and Barcelona are willing to sign her and give her a starting 11 spot ahead of Hermoso.

p/s I am actually not sure if Miedema as a No 9 would be better than Hermoso for a few years until Hermoso would be way over her prime conditions.

Sure that's a relevant perspective but idk, Arsenal isn't the same team now that they were when they last lost to Barcelona. Leah Williamson, who was out with an injury then is back and she's pretty much an integral piece of the lineup. Like I said above they've made some big moves since then to strengthen the team and they're starting to gel tactically under Eidevall. If they keep Viv and, if they can add one or two pieces, if they can gel even more under Eidevall then they can rival Wolfsburg and we saw what Wolfsburg did to Barcelona in the return leg of the semi. Arsenal lost the second leg to Wolfsburg in the quarter final but they were minus a key midfield piece in Wälti who for some stupid UEFA reason wasn't allowed to travel alone to Germany. A lot of if:s, but I don't see Barcelona remaining invincible forever...

Arsenal weren't even competitive with Barcelona in their two CL games. It was embarrassing to watch. Williamson would have helped a little--but not nearly enough. It was as if Barca were playing a mid- or lower-tier Spanish league team. They were also completely bossed by Wolfsburg in the second leg of their CL match this year.

In my view, Miedema could move to ManCity, ManU or Wolfsburg and have a lot more impact than she would at Barca--but she wouldn't necessarily be almost guaranteed a CL trophy if she went to any of those clubs, as she would at Barca--though they'd certainly be in the hunt. There is something off-putting about outstanding teams signing more exceptional players: That profligacy on the men's side for years is what created the serious financial debt at Barcelona.

At the end of the day, there aren't that many transfer options for players of Miedema's status. There aren't that many big clubs, and those that are tend to have a lot of top players already. So we'll see. A decision has to be coming quite soon.

Last time PSG signed a player from Barça, it didn't exactly go very well with Hamraoui. We're going to see how it will end this time... :coffee:

There seems to be confusion about Martens, as this was tweeted out an hour ago.
Perhaps Barca has been slow to act on renewing Martens' contract, which is why she has been talking to PSG? Apparently she has not signed with either club yet....

The PSG atmosphere is poisonous with the Hamraoui v Diallo/Katoto/Diani story, you would not want to play in a club that is so badly mismanaged

Why not for Shaw! She will be returning to a league where she won the scoring title and plus will avoid one less round of qualifying for the group stage. It sounds like she will be replacing Katoto at PSG.

I think that since qualifying for the Champions League, Real Madrid will actively be pursuing the signing of more quality players to help them make it through the two qualifying rounds into the Group Stage.

I think Katoto wants to stay at PSG, it's her house. But she needs guarantees, at least :
    - in the meedle : Dabritz, Luana and khélifi will leave. There are still Geyoro, Fazer (young but huge potential) and Bilbaut from Bordeaux is announced. But it's not enough...and Katoto doesn't want anymore to play with Hamraoui, so Hamraoui must leave too. PSG needs a class player like a Leupolz, a Lavelle, a Lattwein, a Engen etc.. but who's avalaible or wants to move ?
    - A good goalkeeper.

Four great forwards might move this summer : Miedema, Katoto, Shaw, Hermoso, will we see a musical chairs game ? between ManCity, PSG, Barca, Arsenal, Real ?

Real reinforced with Sandie Toletti (From levante) in the meedle, Kade Buchanan (OL) at back line, and Noémie Feller (Reims, young very good potential) forward. I heard Real tried to get some great players like Bronze... maybe they still try.
If Katoto doesn't succeed her negociations with PSG, i would see her rather at Real, with some other french players, and.... Mbappé :p

    Wait and see !!

Yes, probably a 1+1 year option contract, so that she can live if Arsenal don't improve next season.
