Cannon involved in the 1st goal in a 2nd half comeback when down by two. Had a nice steal and pass forward to start the counter. Looks like he plays LCB in a 3CB system.... but I can't be certain based on the highlights.

I wish our Boavista poster was still here, but als he was chased away by silliness if I recall. Please come back. It seems that Reggie is playing well!? I think.

Something is seriously wrong with Boavista's defense. Started with 3 at the back, Barros-Vernaza-Cannon, Barros useless, Vernaza fouling left and right, and Cannon staying behind ruining the offside trap. Went down 2-0, changed to a 4-man back line early in the second, but still conceded 2 more (one PK from a dumb Barros challenge). Overall, terrible defending and Cannon was not the worst in that defense, but still not a good look. 4-0 after what the Portuguese media considered a 6-pointer to be totally safe from relegation.
Not sure how yesterday's game could have been considered a 6-pointer - Maritimo are in 7th place, just outside the last UEFA place. As for relegation, it's pretty unlikely. Boavista are 7 points ahead of the playoff place with a GD that's 7 goals better with only 4 games to go. Next up is Sporting, but after that 2 of the last 3 games are against teams currently in the bottom 3. Either way, Reggie needs to get his agent working. Leaving MLS for Europe is one thing. Spending all season battling relegation for a lower-mid side in front of, at most, 5,000 fans is another.
That's how it was presented in the press in Portugal and also outside, even in English. The winner is safe from any risk of relegation, it seems.

Six pointer today against Moreirense. In the unlikely event Boavista goes down, it'd be a big scalp to claim.
They held the 1-2 for the last couple of minutes with 10, a couple of players on the benches of both teams got reds, Cannon played the full 90, and now they're 100% safe from relegation.
I would like to hear more analysis about his season and future there or elsewhere. @Chess_Panther could lend his voice. His present and future is pretty enigmatic from where I stand. <Thinking it out some> It seems he improved after a rocky start to his career there, and season, to a solid performer for a mid-table Portuguese side. Does that mean he's found his level, remains there, and tries to be part of a Boavista renaissance? Or does he move on, after being an expensive buy for them as per recent standards? And if so, where does that sort of decent, but not outstanding performance in Portugal, lead him at nearly 24 years old? If he moves on, one place I could envision is a lower to mid table French side, like Lorient. The move to Boavista was originally supposed to act as a loan to transfer to Lille. But he hasn't shown himself to be at their level, or at least what they were before financial tribulations. However, smaller French clubs, who were interested too originally, may be in play now, especially after success w/ fellow American EPB, who fit a similar profile career-wise.
Part of the thing that makes it tricky to analyze is his positional switch. He's gone from being a right back in a 4-3-3 or a wingback in a 3-4-3 to a right/central back in a 3-4-3 (or another formation in a three-man backline). It's changed to a very different role and he's actually done quite well when playing there. When you look at his touch maps, he rarely gets into the final third - or rarely into the attacking half! This was last weekend but it is a fair representation how it's been for him. The problem for Reggie is that he's not playing the right back we are used to him playing. Also, when you move up levels, more natural central defenders play this role. So how does Reggie market himself for a move up? Does he sell himself as a right back? The problem, is that he could get trapped into getting sold into a versatile back-up role who can fill holes. He has to be careful with any move. I am not sure how it is going to work out.
Yea, that's another issue. He's a square peg in a round hole for a lot of teams. I guess Boavista & Reggie should sell him as a defensive rb. He did pretty well in that role too when he played the top teams in Portugal. They're at the level of the best teams in France, outside PSG. So he could aid your hopes to stay up there, and maybe in other top 5 leagues as well. The bigger question may be which lower level top 5 clubs would shell out a few million for a defensive rb for Boavista to recoup their investment. Outside the EPL, they may be leery, unless Reggie shows something at the World Cup.
From what I've watched, Cannon sometimes runs to the center and helps with the distribution, acting as a secondary DM. The quality of the league drops significantly after the top six teams, though. So that they're finishing 10 doesn't mean much. He just looks like an ok player in a mediocre team, that wouldn't be out of place in MLS.
