Gustavo Cortez will rescind his contract with Racing Club. He didn't play a single minute for them. Hopefully he finds a club where he can get consistent minutes. He's going to return to Universidad Católica but they have Carabali and Loor at LB. Liga has Cruz and Ayala. Bsc has Leonel Quiñónez and Perlaza. Idv has Chavez and Beder Caicedo. Emelec has Pitton and Rodriguez. The LB depth for the NT is subpar. Estupiñan is the starter. Palacios is the backup but lafc brought in a seasoned LB and he's gonna have to battle for playing time. Behind them there's Cruz and Quiñónez. Both aren't in their best form. Chavez could have been an option had he gotten off to a good start with idv this season but he got injured last month. Jose Carabali was doing well playing at LB with UC before he got injured.
Jonathan Borja to Always Ready. There's quite a few Ecuadorian players playing in Peru, Bolivia, and Venezuela.
This is a very good move I always wanted him to go to the Brazilian league. When he was at Tijuana with Gustavo Quintero he started doing well and getting rhythm. Im sure Busto will be able to get him scoring. He needs some one who understands an Ecuadorian player.
Carlos Orejuela will play for Chapecoense. There's currently 13 Ecuadorian footballers playing in Brazil, nine of which will play in Serie A. This has to be a record. Liga MX was the first foreign league Ecuadorians went to en masse. MLS followed. I don't think it's a coincidence Brazilian teams are looking at Ecuadorians. Hopefully European leagues follow the trend. Who are some players that can make the move abroad in the next transfer window? Byron Castillo is the first name that comes up. Joao Rojas too. From Independiente two names that come to mind are Luis Segovia and Jhoanner Chavez. I would have said Nilson Angulo from Liga but his stock has taken a hit. He's better off staying in Ecuador for at least this season. Zamora and Renteria from Universidad Catolica will attract attention at the very least. Renny Jaramillo from 9 de Octubre and Erick Pluas from Orense are some other players to keep an eye on.
I liked what I saw from Carabali at LB before he missed some time due to injury. Gustavo Cortez returned to UC so Carabali will probably go back to playing in the midfield. I'll have to take a better look at Carcelen. Minda is definitely a player that can make the move abroad. I don't see it happening in the short term though. He's coming off a serious knee injury and he's still rehabbing post surgery.
Juan Cazares to Independiente de Avellaneda. I hope he does well. Younger players should take note of his career trajectory. Cazares had the talent to play in Europe and be a staple of with the NT. Talent alone isn't enough. It also takes discipline, hard work, and humility.
Good day for Ecuadorians abroad. Some of the highlights: Moises made his Premier League debut. He had an assist. Porozo, Mendez, and Jhon Espinoza started. Espinoza started at LB which is interesting. Plata assisted in Valladolid's second goal. Campana scored a hat trick. Jhojan Julio and Cuco Angulo made their debut for Santos.
IDV transferred another player abroad. Neicer Acosta joined Orlando City B. It's crazy the amount of players Independiente has transferred. I saw Acosta play the U20 Libertadores and he was impressed. Fast, explosive, direct. He's a left winger but he reminded of a young Renato Ibarra.
🇪🇨 Nico Benalcazar (2001) has officially signed to @NYCFC on a homegrown contractThe centre back has played 96 games for the Academy, winning championships & scoring 9 goals in the processNico played for the u20 USMNT but is keen to represent Ecuador where his family is from. pic.twitter.com/rGXWGfIVio— Warriors of Ecuador (@EcuadorHeroes) January 19, 2022 Nico Benalcazar signed to NYCFC, '01 CB/RB combo
He's played in 3 games so far this season. He's playing in the MLS Next Pro league which is equivalent to third division ball. I haven't seen him play but hopefully he can break in with the first team.
Yeah I just noticed that you posted about the guy from IDV to MLS NP so figured this would be relevant! Cheers!
We have a 19 y/o GK in a first division Uruguayan team. Marlon Jhodan González González plays for Albion FC and even debuted with that team already. He seems like he is there 2nd / 3rd choice gk for now due to their 1st choice GK being injured.
This is a good link that has information about all of the Ecuadorians playing abroad - https://int.soccerway.com/players/players_abroad/ecuador/

Sarmiento is injured again....seems muscular, so hopefully he's not sidelined for too long. This would be his second injury in about 6 months, and as such, it is worrying.
I imagine he'll join their reserve team where he should get consistent minutes.
http://www.thehardtackle.com/transf...tle-united-retain-interest-in-piero-hincapie/ So it looks like Hincapie is being targeted by Newcastle United (Toon), and while this move makes all the sense in the world from a financial perspective, from a footballing and developmental perspective, I see Leverkusen as being the reasonable and pragmatic decision. Newcastle is now awash with Saudi funding, which means his transfer will be a record sum - an important feat for an Ecuadorian and will set an interesting precedent for future eyes on Ecuadorian talent (and valuations). Newcastle has improved substantially after the winter transfer window and their stock is rising...assuming they can play well, Hincapie can feasibly see plenty of PL action as well as hopefully deep runs in the FA and EFL Cups. This transfer will also elevate his salary significantly...I'm guessing several million pounds per year considering the ownership consortium's deep pockets. Leverkusen, on the other hand, is sitting in third place in the Bundesliga and might even chase second or first next season....that's a different kind of pressure to sit top-of-the-table. The DFB Pokal is another interesting tournament for the team, and most importantly - Leverkusen will almost assuredly be playing Champions League football next season. This is a big step for his career. With the right draw and a nice run in the knockouts (if that happens), he can be well on his way to an even larger club. German discipline and its pace, seems to suit him well. It's a very technical league and physical enough to keep him tough. His salary, on the other hand, is lower than many of his contemporaries in the PL. Long story short, this is not an easy decision (assuming that Newcastle sets a formal and big bid. Leverkusen does have a history of developing and selling talent, and this team is not awash in money, so a fat transfer fee is something they'd dread because they might need to make the sensible decision to sell and keep investing in young talent. If he has sway, I'm curious to see his mindset. Neither is a bad decision, but Newcastle just isn't a top-table PL team and hasn't been for a long time...but he will be an overnight millionaire. Considering his family isn't necessarily also living off him and comes from some means, I doubt the allure of a bigger check is the ONLY thing on his mind. I'd stay in Germany (for now).
