This roster includes all Generation Adidas (until they graduate from the program) and Home-Grown players (they can stay off-budget even if they have signed new contracts since their original MLS contract). Non-GA/HG players can also be on this roster assuming that they make the minimum salary amount given their years of experience in MLS, so there is no age limit for these players (when MLS called these developmental rosters in the past, players had to be 25 years old or younger to be on this roster - this age requirement is no longer in place). Dude, you are the MAN! This level of dedication and attention to detail is something I always think I could do then , just like Doug in the movie "Up" -->squirrel. Thanks for posting this and thanks for sharing your hard work with us.
Great stuff as always. Oravec transfer fee reported to be 1M Euros by Kevin Kinkead on his podcast this week.
Zman - a heartfelt thank you. With this post every year, I know we are getting close to the start of the new season.
Yeah, that is. For several of those years I spent a lot of time complaining about why he was a starter. He's gotten better over time, earned his stay, and I no longer voice that complaint.
$250K is just a guess fo Glesnes; however, I would not view him as a back-up - he might be to start the season but given McKenzie's Olympic/National Team absences and likely eventual transfer, guess that Tanner is planning ahead that Glesnes will be a starter in the long-run. Even though Glesnes was a starter in the top Norway division which is not deemed to be an upper tier Euro league, Tanner has shown a willingness to pay good salary $, by MLS standards, to his foreign signings who often are not coming from upper tier leagues (e.g. Przybylko - German 2nd Division but missed large range of games due to injury before he signed with Philly, Wagner - German 3rd Division, Santos - Chile 1st Division, Monteiro - France 2nd Division, Wooten - German 2nd Division - these 5 players are among the top 8 $ earners on the Union). Between Oravec, Martinez and Glesnes - I would guess Glesnes has the higher salary based on his resume to date.
Agreed. Considering that he has the potential to see alot of minutes this season between international call-ups, slumps, & injuries, paying for a starting-calibre backup CB is probably a wise move, and I would give Ernst the benefit on doubt for getting good value for the $ given his track record to date.
Belgium news outlets are reporting that Anderlecht have shown interest in signing USMNT center back Mark McKenzie (21). The article mentions both Celtic Glasgow and Union Berlin have also been monitoring McKenzie & quotes an asking fee of $2.4M from Philadelphia. pic.twitter.com/TIp8Cat3kV— OneGoal (@OneGoalUS) September 1, 2020
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...ndesliga-clubs-showing-interest-unions-wagner Unsurprisingly, looks like Kai Wagner is also drawing interest from across the pond. Hopefully this will bring in plenty of transfer fee $$$ for Ernst to go Christmas shopping this year.
Brotherly Game @BrotherlyGame The Philadelphia Union have announced a new contract for goalkeeper Matt Freese. He’s guaranteed through 2022 with team options for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
So, whatever happened to @Zman Gunner - these threads were always among the best and most informative things about the team.
