Right now, ESPN is showing the "She Believes Cup" with the USWNT and Czech Republic. SportsCenter is on ESPN2. I'm surprised at that. I'm also surprised that ESPN doesn't have a scroll for this game. (Edit to add it came on in the 19th minute at 11:27pm ET. It then disappeared at halftime and didn't come back.)
I know this wasn't your only intention but thanks for the heads-up about She Believes. I had forgotten about it. Missed the Czech match but will record the NZ match (not sure about the ICL match as USSoccer.com says it's on Espn2 but my guide says college hoops... hmm)
Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler You didn't miss much. They didn't use a lot of their familiar names. This is probably a combination of "waking them up" and giving new names some experience in a meaningless game. A lot of their fanbase will probably be a bit hurt to see those familiar names go, but now's the time to get new experience. The rest of the world is starting to catch up.
Anyone know where I can find viewership numbers from Sunday's US-New Zealand game? Thanks in advance.
IDK but there have been people on here over the years who would definitely know. Oliver Tse seems long gone, but there was somebody else more recently who used to post ratings info. Maybe searching for “ratings” in the espn/nbc/fox/disney threads would turn up their name/s? Or perhaps google can find it for you?
Sounds like you're thinking about @stingbee30 and this excellent thread that he often kept up to date. But he hasn't posted on this message board since 2017. (Hope he's okay.)
I am trying to avoid spoilers so not searching widely. Does anyone know why the English league cup is only available on demand in Spanish on the ESPN app but not English? I assume ESPN aired the game in English when it was live.
I think it's just a time lag. I remember that once before where the replay was first available in Spanish before English. Anyway, be patient, avoid spoilers and enjoy the match... it's well worth it.
Thanks for the replies, guys. I watched 30 minutes of a Bundesliga game and then the final was ready with English. And a plus side that MLS has started again (I assume) which meant ESPN US wasn't on the call. We got the UK feed.
Oliver was banned numerous times. He sold his website and got into the poker business. (IIRC, he got out of that and...who knows now.) https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?n=23943 He's probably still making crazy "predictions" about how MLS will fail, the Galaxy will join the Mexico league and how Fox Sports World will become Fox NASCAR channel.
Does anyone know if the Boro-Spus FA Cup game was delayed or moved to another date? It is not showing on the ESPN app. Need MLS 7 days a week to protect against Twellman on broadcasts from Europe. Just started the Petersborough-City FA Cup game and here he is. The other bad news is that these two will certainly spoil simultaneous start times. I probably should stop this game and jump to one of the games that started later.
I caught parts of it on the ESPN app on my Roku. There were long periods where they lost the feed (don't think it was ESPN's fault). Not sure if that had anything to do with why you couldn't see it.
Boro-Spurs was added late. The feed problems were the signal from Boro I think because Martin Tyler commented about the lost pictures and he was used for the feed commentary (BBC I think). ESPN is again going with local for Luton-Chelesea. Why, why why. Didn't hear from Twellman for the first 3-4 minutes so was wondering at first why Jon Champion was used solo. Again, I wish MLS would go to something akin to Argentina and basically have games every day. That would keep Twellman busy.
Is it just me, or is espn+ making it more difficult to watch replays without being spoiled on the result? Now when you filter for "soccer" you see all the highlights right below the "live and upcoming" content, and unfortunately the final score is posted right there in the link to see the highlights (along with big images showing the winning team celebrate). The "on demand" games are further below that. I thought previously the on demand content was right below the live and upcoming content, with the highlights somewhere further down and out of sight. In any case, almost impossible now to watch a game on replay without being spoiled.
I have trained myself to just not look at those rows and quickly scroll to the "on demand" as soon as I hit the page. I'm using a Roku. What device are you using?
I'll try to remember to do that next time. I use Roku, iPad or SmartTV depending where I am in the house. Between that and the many streaming platforms I use its difficult keeping track of where to look for the replays without stumbling into spoilers along the way.
Another complication is, if you filter for "soccer" the On Demand stuff is at the very bottom of the page, but if you filter for "La Liga" the on demand material is near the top.
I usually select Bundesliga and La Liga from the "leagues" row and not from "soccer". This way I go directly to the league pages without seeing anything else going on around the sport.
Meanwhile here in Uruguay, Star+ got rights for the Uruguayan First Division... ... and raised the price to US$ 25 per month. That's 12 hours of minimum wage!
