He was in the starting line up originally. Must have tested positive just before kick-off. Bad luck for Sarge.

Well that's bunk. My first weekend of rest with no kid, no work, no nothing in about 6 months and none of our guys are playing.

I've got it on in the background but have little to no interest in turning around to watch any of it.

Real shame if Sargent can’t play today.

A ‘winnable’ game at home against Crystal Palace and Sarg today could also enjoy the fan support, adulation and momentum from his last 2 goal game- if he could only play.

A win, and they are definitely back in thick of relegation battle. No question about it. Anything less and their chances take a big hit again.

Watford and Burnley likely will struggle to escape, so there are 2 ‘beatable’ teams.

Brentford could easily be the 3rd team to go down (or Leeds), so Norwich has their ‘shot’ with an exceptionally weak bottom of the table this year (numerous clubs). Newcastle prolly decent bet to stay up now.

Norwich prolly 15-20% odds right now to stay up. A win prolly puts them near 25%. Loss or tie 15% or less.

Pretty mysterious Josh’s illness before last game. Guess we will know soon enough what’s up. Just when we thought the guy’s luck had finally turned.

Thanks for that. I think 538 has Burnley's odds are too high (to stay up), as are Leeds & Brentford too high.

Everton rated too low odds to stay up. Norwich (as I surmised) about right...but can swing pretty dramatically based on today's result.

Today is the type of game a team like Norwich almost MUST win to stay up. Norwich might pull an upset against a much stronger team later on to replace (a loss or tie today) but you certainly don't want to count on that big upset if you are Norwich (for survival).

Win the games you can win. Today is thoroughly winnable, but words are cheap of course.

With a win today, one can see a possible path to 34 points for Norwich- winning their remaining games against (almost all) bottom table sides, while dropping full points against almost all others.

They would 'only' need 15 points in their remaining games to get to 34......if they win today.

A loss or tie today makes that path much more difficult.

    Ended 1-1 Tie.

Norwich has made its path even more steep now.

    Remaining games

    (Must Wins- 9 Points)

    (H) Burnley
    (H) Newcastle
    (H) Brentford

(Expected to Lose All- 0 Points)

    Man City (H)
    Liverpool (A)
    Chelsea (H)
    Man United (A)
    Leicester (A)

(Need to Pick up 8 Pts from this Group)
    2 win, 2 ties, 3 losses OR 1 win, 5 ties, 1 loss

    Leeds (A)
    Tottenham (H)
    Villa (A)
    Southampton (A)
    Wolves (A)
    West Ham (H)
    Brighton (A)

That would get them to 34 points. 34 points might be enough this year.

    Record under Smith to date:

    3 wins, 3 ties, 6 losses

Record needed under Smith to get to 34 points**:

    5 wins, 2 ties, 8 losses OR 4 wins, 5 ties and 6 losses

** so they need to get even better since Smith arrived if they are going to stay up. Even dismissing their record under Farke, they aren't retaining enough points to stay up.

Me thinks our boy Josh needs to score a lot more goals and a few game-winning goals also for Norwich to have a chance.

Really tough assignment today against Man City. Josh likely starting. At least they have the home crowd to back them. A tie would be massive. Here’s hoping Man City left their shooting boots at home and Norwich goalie can have a blinder.

    Good results for Norwich today!

    Watford loss
    Brentford tie at home

Regardless today’s result, Watford/Brentford/Burnley really are poor-struggling and there is def a chance it continue rest of season as well.

If Norwich can only ‘take care of business’ by winning the home games they should win and pick up a few points on the road- they have a real chance to stay in Prem.

Today is def not a game they would expect to point

5 minutes in and City have scored an offside goal and banged a curler off the inside of the post.

Norwich riding their luck hard already.

    ‘19 Hanley hits the post!

Man City dominating possession but Norwich pretty used to running up that hill every game. Haha

A tie would be huge is they can grab it
