True, all so varied, and connected by a mass of cars and freeways. San Fernando Valley used to bum me out because it would never really get dark. Just too much sprawl. And then of course there's the smog - that queasy feeling when you take a deep breath on a bad smog day (= most days).

I cannot stand the Valley -- I understand it's cheaper but, why? If you don't know better, you'd think you were in the Rust Belt.

I was also considering a Super Bowl meal of a steak sandwich and baked potato from Longhorn Charcoal Pit in Sunnyvale (which I haven't had the time to visit since late last summer) even though it's more Texas than it is either Los Angeles or Cincinnati.

But I then looked it up just right now and discovered to my horror  ...

I haven't been this sad about a restaurant closing since HomeTown Buffet, Golden Wok (in Mountain View) and The Elephant Bar all closed a few years ago.

Since I grew up not far from there I think my family went on occasion. But that was a long long time ago - I think it was during the Paleozoic Era. Another Sunnyvale restaurant that dates back to the Paleozoic is the Arby’s on Bernardo and El Camino. Can’t believe it’s still there! I think they’re still on their original batch of meat-like substance too :). Nah - I don’t want to dis them - was never a fan though. Some people like it - obviously.

We had a nearby Arbys on El Camino. My kids loved the curly fries, but I could only wonder why the health department hadn't shut them down, and I guess they finally did.

How did you and your family like it?

So my Super Bowl meal should be from Arby's?

I briefly considered Boston Market, but then realized that the Patriots aren't in the Super Bowl this year.

Can’t remember all the way back to the Paleozoic. There may be some cave drawings around Sunnyvale somewhere depicting our experience there.

…if you want to stick to a vintage 1960’s Sunnyvale meat restaurant theme, may not be many other choices.

You can't play football at half-speed / effort. It just doesn't work.

Back when Steve Tasker was (deservedly) MVP of the game. Probably before you were born. :)
