Es war übrigens der erste Strafstoß der Saison für den @HallescherFC - am ersten Rückrunden-Spieltag. #HFC— Hallescher FC (@HallescherFC) December 18, 2021 Cylops draws the penalty and makes it. Equalized at 1-1 at that point, but now they're down 3-1.

I heard on a podcast today that there are something like 50k Americans around K-town. He should find some fans there.
Interesting move. Kaiserslautern are in 2nd place in the 3 Liga, 8 points behind runaway leaders Magbeburg. Their defence is by far the best in the division and they score reasonably well, but the frontline is shot-shy - none of their other strikers has hit double figures at this level in their entire careers. Boyd OTOH is a proven goal-getter at this level - he'[s reached 25 goals or assists in both of his 3 Liga seasons and is well on track to do that with Halle this season. That's why they paid 300k - a pretty high fee at this level - to sign him, so if he's fit he's almost guaranteed to start and should be in BL2 next season.
This is incredible! I've followed the Red Devils since the early 1980s when I was stationed in K-Town. It's great to see another American there. (Many will remember Thomas Dooley's stint at Kaiserslautern.) It would be really cool of Boyd could help such a historic club back into BL2 after so many years in the wilderness.
Here's a story with a headline that calls him "Boom Boom Boyd." (It's in German.) https://www.swr.de/sport/fussball/1...boyd-potential-zum-publikumsliebling-100.html
How did I miss this move?! Great move for Boom Boom Boyd. This is a great way to get back into the 2nd Bundesliga. It's going to be a battle though. I took a sneak peak at the table. They are tied with Braunschweig on 39 points but are second by virtue of GD. Saarbrucken, Waldholf, Onsabruk, and Meppen are hot their tails and just 3 point separates 2nd and 7th in the table. Hopefully Boom Boom is just was K-town need to get away from the pack. He's a proven scorer.
The table is definitely tight but Kaiserslautern's recent results have been really good. They tied Braunschweig just before the winter break and recently blew out Meppen 4-0.
And Kaiserslautern’s next game is Sat against Halle. Boyd has been cleared to play against his former club https://www.kicker.de/887832/artikel/fck-debuet-gegen-den-ex-klub-boyd-gegen-halle-spielberechtigt
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miroslav_Klose All-Time World Cup Finals scorer. His breakout season at K’lautern occurred at AGE 23!! Before that, he was not considered as a top player/prospect. Lesson: Our young strikers still have time (although Mr. Boyd will be just fine if he can carry them to BL2 at his age). Hey T! We will never forget about your pre-season double bicycle kick goal many years back!
I had no idea Boyd was making that much at Halle. Given the seismic transfer fee, and a couple ifs, he has a small outside chance with Qatar. Also great for him for making so much now.
The obsession with kids is a rather new development. I remember a time when a U-23 player was still considered academy material.
