Something NY/NJ Red Bull fans (and players) talk about is players (like Sean Davis) leaving because it potentially adds time to their careers given the RB style runs you into the ground. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Yank run as much as BA - and Leeds play some of this same style where there is tons of running. I guess it's his running that is part of why he's valuable but I just hope his small frame can keep this up over a decently long career. I also worry about the PL beating the crap out of him.
Any thought that there’s no way Salzburg will sell him to Leeds because of the transfer dispute between Leeds and Leipzig over Jean-Kévin Augustin?
No not yet. Leeds owes them $23 million which they have not paid. FIFA ruled in Leipzig's favor, but Leeds has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and that case will be heard in March.
Just saw on BBC that Leeds is coming back with another offer. Lets see what happens. Did not know about the other payment squabble. This is EPL/Austrian Bliga. Not Serbia/Portugal. Anyone know the skinny?
I mean the kid is one of our most durable guys actually. But yeah people need to watch a usmnt game and just pay attention to how much ground he covers. It's remarkable.
Jim Curtin says he got advanced numbers: USMNT and RB Salzburg attacker Brenden Aaronson is in the top 1% in distance covered. Not just in the Austrian league, but in the world. Absolutely mental.— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) January 20, 2022 Top 1% is very nice. He would need to keep that up at any higher level he goes to, but I would imagine top 1% is world class territory.
Sources: Representatives from Leeds United are in Austria for further talks with RB Salzburg for USMNT attacker Brenden Aaronson.Leeds continue to push for deal now. Salzburg want to hold out for summer (with Leeds favorite). @samstejskal reported Leeds had $20m bid rejected. pic.twitter.com/iElqXjuepE— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) January 20, 2022 In general I was a fan of Aaronson staying till summer - a CL knockout tie is great experience (even if they get smoked) and 6 more months of physical development would do him good - but if a team wants him THIS much, I say go for it. Leeds are clearly invested in getting him, and that means a world class coach like Biesla believes in him, so I think it would be a good move for him now.
More money on the table? Leeds United considering upping their bid for Brenden Aaronson to £20m. The club want him in this window, although if RB Salzburg dig their heels in, it's one which could wait until the summer. Leeds rate him very highly.w/ @samstejskal https://t.co/RgQAPEBWQq— Phil Hay (@PhilHay_) January 20, 2022
I mean not bad for Philly since they get the $5 million plus the 10-20 percent of the the fee from Leeds.
I mean he really is an awesome fit for Leeds. And i'm sure they want to bring in the reinforcements they need to try and create some distance between them and the relegation zone. Especially with Newcastle especially likely to have some sort of surge.
Jim Curtin speaking on Brenden Aaronson's rise jokes:“It just goes to show that if you play well at the MLS Is Back Tournament, then good things can happen for you.” 😂— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) January 20, 2022
He’s got Modric-type body. He might be alright physically over term. I actually see his best potential as a Modric-type player in middle of park.
Not being a turd, can you explain what you mean by modric-type body? I’ve just never thought that about aaronson at all so curious what you mean.
Nah, the title has to incorporate the e instead of the a in his first name, and the two e’s in Leeds. Born to be at lEEds…brendEn aaronson goes to England
Basically, sinewy. He’s is not going outmuscle guys. He is going to hold his own on being balanced, seeing the hit coming, releasing quickly, and on occasion using his opponents imbalance against them. This is an effective way to have a long career. If you want a sports example of the complete opposite, think Earl Campbell of the late 1970s/early 1980s Oilers. Big, bruising dude who always tried to pick up a couple extra yards and had a short career and terrible pain and lifetime health issues. Modric never gets ‘hit’ it seems, and doesn’t going looking for the rash challenge either. I think Aaronson can be this type of player
Posting some new (I think? I think its news cause I assumed we would have heard about this already) stats: Easy to see why Leeds are hell-bent on signing Brenden Aaronson. No player has covered more distance than him in the Champions League this season (78.2km). Averaging 13.03km per game. That is absurd. More here from 13:07 on #LUFC’s chances of signing him… https://t.co/ABVPdyWiao— Ryan Taylor (@RyanTaylorSport) January 21, 2022 Between this and Curtin's top 1% comment yesterday, there are clearly some cool advanced stats floating around clubs. I wish more of that was exposed to the public...
Well if he's top 1 percent of pro soccer players in the world in distance covered, isn't that the definition of world class? What do you mean you imagine it's world class?
Personally I was just hedging against being too much of a fan boy lol. I do think 1% is world class territory but I didn't want to call Aaronson World Class at x and get a "well ackshully hes only doing it in Austria!" type comments.
