Maybe one of the assistants, but not JH. That to me would make zero sense.

I really like BT but I see him as pretty dug-in up at SDSU.

What about the AHC at Omaha? (I don't see the HC being pursued.)

Word today is after the completion of the investigation they are going to give Carr sometime to make corrections and admin is going to be heavily involved in the near future. Would expect some additional OU transfer portal players in the coming weeks.

Sounds like all the talk of Carr being guaranteed to be fired was speculation. Nothing to the story.

If post #979 is true, you think him staying, losing players to the portal, and having folks like you having to explain and defend him - is all better for the players and school?

I have no inside information here at all but no doubt sometimes, REGARDLESS of the actual facts, leaving 'clean' is better than staying in the mess. This happens all the time by the way. Admin cranks up the scrutiny or pressure on the coach and the smart coach leaves while the leaving is good. It sound heroic to defend the ship until the end but no fun to be the last one going down with it.

Our man Peter was right, former UCLA assistant coach, Jane Alukonis announced as USC’s head coach. Wishing her luck, looking forward to seeing how she will do.

That’s stunningly bad. Holy cow. Am I reading it correctly that she’s been a paid assistant in women’s college soccer for 2 seasons?

so two national championship programs in one of the best conferences in the country hire people with no head coaching experience, and limited experience as assistants?

are people not applying for these jobs?

Last year OU lost 17 players + 2 medical retirees under Carr's reign. This year he is losing 20 with a few more to go probably by summer. Two of his transfers left after a semester claiming that coming to OU was the worst decision of their lives. He had to bring 5 freshmen and 3 transfers in January to have enough for a spring season. This isn't just a handful of "soft" players upset about playing time. These players feel unsafe, tormented, and unprotected by the university.

Unsafe and tormented? Those are some pretty harsh words to throw around without proof, but I guess in today’s society proof no longer applies. I admittedly know nothing about this situation, but I am going to ask a few questions as a former administrator.

    1) How long has he been at the program?

    2) You said 17 people left last year. How many were on the roster and how many are seniors? 20 people are leaving this year. Again, how many are on the roster and how many are seniors?

    3) Of the underclassmen leaving or transferring, how many played solid minutes on the team?

    4) What exactly is the reason for feeling unprotected or tormented? Was money taken away? Was money threatened to be taken away for athletic reasons?

I cannot tell you the number of times in multiple sports that accusations were brought forward like the ones you mention. A few instances had something behind them. More often than not, it was due to the transition between coaches and came back to playing time and scholarship money. But answer the questions above and let’s have a discussion. By no means am I defending someone I know in name only, but I’m also not about to vilify him without any facts either.

I have no insight into the OU situation except to say that I've never heard of 17 players leaving in one season, followed by 20 the next.

I decided to look into it a bit myself out of curiosity. Went on their rosters for 2020 and then 2021. 15 players are gone, of which 6 were seniors. Of the other 9, not a single one of them played major minutes. Most did not play at all. The top 18 players in minutes played all appeared to return for 2021.

I cannot speak to how the players were treated, but it seems to be exactly the opposite of what you claim. New coach (started January 2020), where players that didn’t play, left. The players that did play, stayed.

On the field, they went from 8-9-3 in 2019 to 1-12-1 in 2020 (COVID year so I’d take that with a grain of salt). 8-11-1 in 2021. The 2019 roster was loaded with underclassmen. Only 3 seniors.

Looking at it from the outside, it looks like Carr took over a young and not overwhelmingly talented team and is turning over the roster. They have improved as the players have gotten older. This is not unusual for any program where a new coach comes in. Of the program was in great shape and the players were talented, there would be no need for a new coach. If you had facts to back up your claims, you wouldn’t feel the need to exaggerate your claims. Shame on you.

The words unsafe and tormented are straight from several players' mouths. And obviously you would have to go back to the 2019 roster to see who also left. Some of those players did a spring with Carr and left. And your numbers are just simply incorrect. For example, I am not sure how you left out the West Virginia transfer. And think about it, if 37+ players left or are leaving it wouldn't make sense to say that they were all seniors or played very little. It doesn't add up. And also, they all got an extra covid year and chose to leave or transfer. How do you explain that only 1 of his transfers will remain for the 2022 season? His own recruits are leaving. Like I said, it has nothing to do with playing time. I wish I ir did. The fact that you're skewing your numbers to support someone who has one of the worst reputations in college soccer is shameful.

Please note I know nothing, not taking sides and newer to college soccer given friends/family and should probably stay out of it.....but interesting to me after reading this is that on Twitter OU posted a picture of the team with 22 in it. Perhaps people were missing or accidentally took a picture without them but learning most programs have 30ish players right?

My numbers came directly from the website. 15 players left after 2020. 6 of them were seniors. Of the other 9, most did not sniff the field. You need only check their website to find this information. That is also not an unusual amount of players to leave when a new coach takes over a weak program.

Directly from the players mouths means you’re either a player, parent (see above) or a club coach of one of the players with an axe to grind.

I’ve never heard much about him good or bad other than I know he coached the U20’s. They looked into it and he’s still coaching. In this climate that tells me there is nothing but disgruntled people that probably chased the last coach out thinking they would play and when they didn’t, they’re trying again. Not buying what you’re selling. Grow up.

When was it taken? They have 33 listed on their roster. If it was taken recently, the seniors would be missing along with any mid year transfers.

It was literally two hours ago talking about first team meeting of the 2022 squad under Oklahoma Soccer. It is not an official team picture but shows only 22 attending the meeting. Again I am probably unnecessarily stirring the pot without information but thought it was interestingly enough to share.

I just did the same thing. Of the 2019 Freshman that came in under a prior coach, most of them didn't touch the field as a freshman or after Carr took over. I did take it a lil bit further. Of those that transfered, most of them, not all, haven't seen any significant, if at all, minutes at their new school either.

Disgruntled former staff? Parent of a kid on the pine? Not sure which. I can tell you though I know one of OUs assistants personally, and that person is one of the most honest and kind humans I have ever met. Absolutely stand-up person. Some people don't like the honesty but sometimes honesty is hard to hear.

23 without the seniors and the 1 transfer thats leaving. 22 doesn't seem to out of the realm of possibilities.

My kid's team has 29 down from 37 and you wouldn't know it because since theyve been back they've had a steady 5 virus positive at any given time.

Covid is still a thing. As I mentioned my kid's team has about 5 positives at any given time since they returned to school and another 5-10 have been in quarantine (roommates). It's pretty much just moving through their team. So yes, 22 in the photo out of a team of 30- is a very likely an unscandalous scenario.

Not really sure how this relates to "Hot Seat", but gets tiring reading about the "rumors" and other misinformation on here. Start a new thread about OU Soccer if you want to talk about. Was so glad the UCLA convo is gone and now this is just taking its place...

I'm not speculating anything. I come on here to read about what jobs might be opening out of curiosity. I got out of the college game, but do still enjoy reading some of these boards, but recently it hasn't been very worthwhile. Mostly by comments made like the last one.
