Pretty funny that another Colombian right back is stiring away from Aletico Madrid only for them to be supposedly after another.

Munoz really seems to fit Simeone's style, can play CB, RB, CM he's versatile and seems to dig in and defend and has that competitive spirit. That said Simeone's system also takes time to learn and you can be easily on the outside without much playing time so that's a risk. They did just lose Trippier so they need a RB and they are short of CB's so he makes sense.

Already shot down by Duvan's camp apparently...

Given how Duvan dependent Atalanta has been this season and lack of subs outside of Muriel, can't see it.

they are out of the top 4 and champions next season if they sell Duvan. Juve is back and Napoli should be in the top 4.

Not true, atalanta is more than their " stars" tjTa actuallu beneficiated from the system of gadperini..

NoBody rememebered for example papu that was the more influential in attack....the contribution of muriel and zapata have been very similar....since muriel arrival the top scorer per season have been muriel ( except this season)

Abslutely they can qualify with or witjout duvan

They have a great system but they literally only have three strikers on the books right now in the first team with Zapata, Muriel and Piccoli.

For this to make sense they would need to make another signing ASAP.

meh the key i ucl agaisnt valencia, maybe their most important victory in their history was won with ilicic as lonely striker.....and colombians in the bench...

if duvan is gone, will buy another forward...

That was some time ago. Ilicic himself wants out of Atalanta because he isn't getting the playing time at this stage of his career but they couldn't move him this summer. When Papu left they had Malina, Passalic and Pessina pushing for playing time in attacking midfield, but they don't have any depth today at striker.

With Duvan injured yesterday, their squad depth was really exposed vs. Inter. Gasperini just didn't have ammo to bring on. It's a testament to his system that they were able to Inter straight up with what he had to work with. As a fan, I am frustrated they haven't already signed more help for him.

Real talk: The way Atalanta rejected Newcastle this morning and made fun of the approach Newcastle is taking ("it's like they are playing Bingo" was the translation of the quote I read), doesn't seem like the kind of folks in active conversations. Of course they want to see if these people will make them an offer they can't refuse (Atalanta is sitting on a very old front four outside of Piccoli)

However, if you are Duvan and Newcastle is really offering to triple your wages and you are 30 years old, I can absolutely see how it could be attractive. Couldn't blame him, this is his last chance at a crazy contract given his age. But his team was the first to leak that there was nothing to this.

Also - Newcastle is being linked to everyone and there is truth to what the Atalanta brass are saying...

Make something of himself? The guy has made lots of himself even if Italy isn't the same hype and eyes as the premier league. Newcastle will not be better then Atalanta any time soon and won't be in the champions league either, Newcastle could be good eventually but at this stage of his career this would be step backwards and he's risking being in the championship. Newcastle aren't good and the money and influence will take 2-3 years at least to really hit another level.

Newcastle will be a step up in wages and exposure simply because of the premier league, I can't blame him if he wants to get paid but if he wants to further his achievements and status on the field I don't think Newcastle is the right move for him.

Atalanta could make top 4 without Zapata but he is their most valuable attacker right now and their depth attacking is not what it used to be in the days of Papu when you had a healthy Ilicic tearing it up and Muriel ready to step up, there isn't really the same depth which is why they've leaned heavily on Zapata. In the summer they can find someone and get them used to the system but letting Zapata go in the middle of a race for top 4 would be really risky, Muriel is great but he rarely can go 90, can't start as many games as Zapata and it removes their super sub.

Atalanta, Newcastle, whatever. This guy isn't going to get any better and he'll probably be on the decline soon. I would go to England if I were him. Probably the only chance he'll get at a big move anymore. Nothing left to lose

Duvan was a little bit of a disappointment (basically because the expectations for him were not so high) until he found a home in Atalanta and thrived in Gasperini's system. I agree with you that he will not get better, but the discussion is if the move makes sense for any of the parts.

I think that for Zapata makes sense from a financial POV but is a very risky move, since he might end up in the Championship, or bouncing around bottom of the table teams.

The same could be said from Atalanta's perspective, if Newcastle pays and they manage to cover his absence and pay for the money they'll lose for potentially missing UCL.

For Newcastle, I really don' understand the move, and they seem to be just throwing money around trying to stay in EPL, which is not guaranteed. If I were them, I'd look for a younger and cheaper players and try to reinforce in other positions to stay in the top league, before going for big names.

I don't think it will be that risky, also with the amount of decent signings plus Eddie Howe as a manager I don't think they'll be relegated. They should do enough to avoid relegation and then im sure they'll make more signings in the summer.

as for him, he was always an average player until he randomly exploted very late in his career in classic colombian fashion. I'd say he exceeded expectations but this is about as good as he'll get. Still though, good for him to overcome his own limitations

for me the team havent upgrade honestly....with these new reinforcemnt....

but i agree this will be one of the last chance to have a great trasnfer in a competitive league......at the same time, is risky to him leave atalanta to this new differente league

is Atalanta really capable of doing much more than they've already done? I'm not sure. I'd appreciate one last challenge at the very least if I were him.
