Not the right thread, I know, but how does he have US citizenship (I know you're the guy that will know)? I read he came here at 10 years old and he's now 14, so seems like he'd have to have a blood relative that's a US citizen to avoid the green card/ wait period timeline.

I don't know anything about the details, but there are several ways depending on his family circumstances (mostly comes down to his parents).

    * Could be adopted so he gets citizenship right away.
    * One of his parents could have moved to the US before he did and already had the Green Card when he arrived.
    * One of his parents could have married a US citizen, so the wait period was down to 3 years instead of 5.

I'm sure the rest of the story will come out eventually. Here's hoping that RSL didn't get the facts wrong.

Thanks. Was assuming non-citizen parents still together, thus green card/ five year wait, but as you mention there are many possibilities

Underage children get naturalized when their parent/s become US citizens, so, presumably one of his parents became a citizen.

Best we have right now is that RSL has him listed us a US citizen on their website.

Yeah, I get that. Was just curious how (and I know there are multiple possibilities).

Excuse me, but I'm looking for the Daryl Dike thread. Some people told me that it was here. Could you give me any directions. ;)

It was a joke. I guess a bad joke since it went over your head (and out the door and never came back).

Over my what? Aaah, you meant the empty receptacle that's attached to my shoulders.

It being empty I didn't get the joke. Not for the first time either. :(

He's ahead of the curve. Usually takes a few games before an injury.

Too bad. Get better big guy. I assume that rules him out of the March window. I would love to see Gregg consider someone besides Zardes and Ferreira at the reserve CF spot in 2022. Pefok could hardly be doing more to help his case. He or Dike give the squad a size option. Or more broadly, any kind of poacher or goal hunter seems worth a try, even if they don’t execute the pressing instructions to a tee. We will be in matches where we need that, and experience tells us that while he can do good things vs CONCACAF teams, Zardes doesn’t have that knack against top tier competition. In 2022 let’s give the big guys, or Sarge, or Hoppe a look at CF and see if it powers up the offense. Let’s not create a false premise (“We need to lock the roster in April in order to gel by Qatar”) in order to avoid looking for those options.

Mismanagement from WBA here. You can't throw a guy like this right into a starting role coming off an offseason until he is well and truly fit. That really sucks for the kid. I hope it's not something that recurs for him.
