Sun 16 January 2022 WHL (Wicked High-tech Loo) USA “TV”: The Cock 11:30am ET We travel a few miles to their spiffy new loo, with a severely depleted squad, but perhaps a spring in our step after a stirring 10-man performance at Anfield... both defensively and offensively. We’ll be missing Xhaka of course (we all know why!) plus the boys in Cameroon: Partey, Elneny, Auba, Pepe. And it seems that Cedric, Saka & ESR are iffy. And they’re without: Son, Reguillon & Dier... strangely they have no one at AFCON. If the game is played on Sunday (we made an official request today for postponement) then it’ll be another improvised line-up with perhaps a MF of something like Chambers + Sambi? It’s 5th vs 6th, as we duke it out for the Arsene Wenger trophy, or if that’s not on, a place in the coveted UEL, and always St.Tott's! Turns out I did the thread for this same fixture last year and then it was 8th vs 10th, so that’s something to be a little positive over I guess. The bookies make them favorites, but whaddya say we take all 3pts fellas. That'd put us back in 4th and open up a useful 5pt gap to Spuds, who’ve got 2 games in hand.
---------------- Laca ------------------- Martinelli --------------- Hutchinson ----- Patino --------- Sambi --------- --------------- White ------------------- Tierney - Gabi - Rob - Chambers ------------- Ramsdale --------------- Hopefully ESR, Saka & Tomi are atleast available for the bench
Hopefully this gets played in a couple of weeks with Xhaka and Partey back, and with Odegaard, ESR, and Saka fully fit.
I think I remember when we signed him that his ability to play on the right in a pinch was touted. But if so, the question is would you want him to?? He's not been putting in tip-top performances of late, not that he's gotten gobs of chances. Now that Calum has gotten some real minutes at RB in an extremely tough match, that makes me feel that he's ahead of Nuno in the pecking order for RB. With any luck Tommy will be fit and can resume that role. The real fun starts if White has to move up to MF. Then there are some real tricky decisions as to who plays RB & RCB... with a pool of Tomiasu, Holding, Chambers, Tavares?
Seeing comments from people that we are looking to recall Azeez from Portsmouth wonder if we are going to. He looked good in preseason would love to see us give him games.
Reports about Azeez was that he didn’t play well they are in league 1, would rather loan our players to aides that play football either abroad or in the championship also this game is going to get called off
I'm glad we got it called off, but the league should have never allowed this situation to have happened. Unless a team has 10+ players quarantining due to COVID, the games should have gone ahead with youth players filling out the rest of the squad. Wolves used that bs to get our game called off due to a "combination of covid and injuries". Team should have been required to submit a list of who tested positive for COVID and when, and that list should have been the only basis for postponements. So what if you are missing 6 players due to COVID. You have a squad of up to 25 players and an U23 team to draw upon.
It wouldn’t have been a proper Derby without each teams best players on the field. I want Arsenal’s best to beat Sp*rs best, including Son, who would have missed the game tomorrow.
Can't blame Arsenal for walking through a door the FA opened. Now I just hope the team takes advantage of this opportunity.
yeah, I'm not in love with this. But Pandora's box has been opened already, we're just the latest to walk through. The whole situation definitely calls for more clarity as everyone moves forward.
man, we just don't know how to play this game. you don't come up with more positive test after the decision for postponement has been made. you come up with fake ones before that.
Too good not to post here.. This is how the press officials and rival fans expected us to line up for the spurs game. 😭😂 pic.twitter.com/YtTW92ITbC— H2D (@DammitArsenal) January 15, 2022
y'know what, this bullshit is tiresome. it's not that i disagree with either but i want to know their stance when liverpool got theirs with "oops, false positives! </urkel>". or various teams got their postponement.
i agree with your points. none of it should have been postponed. 25-person squad + U23 should be more than enough for you to work a team out. if you are, at times, short, well, everybody will get short at some point. but, once others have been postponed, i would have been royally pissed if we didn't get it. i think even more than that. teams should be required to submit a list of positive tests to the league then an independent group should be doing a follow-up test to confirm. none of this, "oops, our tests were faulty. tee-hee." bullshit. and the players who are/were tested to be positive are required to be out X number of days if they are basis for postponement.
This is the 10th Premier League game to be postponed, including two other Tottenham games, why all the drama now? Tottenham were aggrieved when they were forced to forfeit the Europa Conference League game that resulted in their elimination from the competition. They had academy players they could have taken to that game and might even have gotten a result. Imagine the outcry if that had occurred in the Europa League or Champions League. Is the drama because it’s Arsenal that requested the postponement? I believe I read that the Wolves coach was complaining about the postponement, but they had two games postponed because covid thinned their ranks. Was it just covid that impacted their ability to field a team, or was it covid plus injuries. There is a lot of hypocrisy making the rounds at this moment in time. If the Premier League forces teams to play with a significant number of academy players they are corrupting the competition. Imagine a title deciding game where one team has to field three or four academy players. That would place a big asterisk on a season that already has question marks.
eh, i mean, it would be a weird season but, if they'd done it from the get with no postponement, then it would have been largely even, no different than any other seasons with its randomness of injuries.
I think a lot of the attacks at us are because City is already running away with the title, so the league champion doesn’t seem to be up for any debate. ‘Pool and Chelski (for now) are clearly the next tier, so then it’s us and Spuds as most likely challengers for 4th, and we just so happened to be scheduled to play this week. in short, there is more drama and more controversy if it’s us involved.
Media narrative is total bullshit. Never complained for the other clubs. Now they cry. We are The Arsenal. We play when we want.
