both matches Cameroon has played in have been the most entertaining. I actually think Cameroon is pretty solid, they look pretty good, despite their moments of defensive lapses. I think they are actually the one team I do not want to meet for World Cup qualifiers. They are a more solid team than both Egypt and Ghana. They look a well drilled team, and maybe their knocking out CIV wasn't as much a fluke as I thought it was.
Ethiopia are similar to what you said about Saudi Arabia. They play quick passing football. Their problem is their physicallity. Same way Saudi's get destroyed against the stronger Europeans, the Ethiopians get destroyed against the stronger West African players.
To be honest with you, tournaments are usually like this. Teams are rusty and cautious in the opening group games, and it's usually the 2nd round of group games where the best games are. Teams are warmed up and either fighting to stay alive or looking to secure a place in the next round. Not surprised to see the level go up now.
Indeed. Full-time: Cameroon 4 - 1 Ethiopia Good game, could have been 7-3 to Cameroon! That pitch looked MASSIVE, so wide, acres of space. It looked like 7-a-side at times! Africa is amazing. Hope the teams play well in Qatar, Iran too might be a dark horse.
The opening matches were very cagey, especially with the lack of prep for all the teams, so they did not want to lose. Today Ethiopia needed to play and get something, as we see more teams actually have to play for points the tournament will open up. best game of tournament so far today, and Ethiopia played their part in a very good first half that was close to even.
More solid than Ghana for sure. Ghana has still a long way to go to get back to their 2006-2015 form. I want to see more from Egypt before I agree to your assessment.
Goalkeeper: Cameroon beats Egypt Defence: Equal, maybe slight edge Cameroon Midfield: Cameroon kills Egypt Attack: Egypt Midfield for me is the most important. I'm pretty sure this Cameroon team would beat Egypt pretty bad. and I'm pretty sure Cameroon would be a tougher opponent for us.
Egypt has been failing with how many consecutive top level coaches from Quieroz, to Aguirre, to Cuper. Their midfield is poor and that is why they have been failing, they lack players like Abu Treika and Ahmed Hassan that made them so good in the past, so despite having their best attacker ever, they struggle. Salah rarely even gets the ball if the opposing team plays them right.
I will skip the Morocco game today. I think there´s more at stake in the South African derby between Malawi and Zimbabwe. If Zimbabwe is going to play a relevant role in this tournament they don´t have any other choice than to get the first three points on the board today.
Senegal have looked poor. Not a fan of their coach. But they are missing half of their first team to injuries and Covid, also it hasn't helped that they've played both their matches at the hottest point in the day. Also if you look at Guinea's starting midfield, it is actually superior to the team Senegal was able to lineup. Naby Keita (Liverpool) Moriba (Barcelona) Diawara (Roma) With all these factors the end result is not surprising.
Yeah, it's currently 1-0 Morocco and they look strong. Other game will be a closer affair... Half-time: Malawai 1 - 1 Zimbabwe Great equaliser by Malawi! Quite a good game this one. Could be a frenzied second half...
Malawi won 2-1. They were very clinical on the day. Something you wouldn't expect from a very young team that has no experience at an higher level. Zimbabwe were the better team until they conceded the 2nd goal. They couldn't regroup and lost eventually.
18 mins: Great goal from Ghana! Andre Ayew turned and blasted it low from 20 yards, fantastic! 1-0 Ghana.
Gabon have been pretty good, as I thought, but no dice yet, 25 minutes to go, they should go for broke... 88 mins: GOAL GABON! Allevinah, a fine goal! 1-1 Holy shit! Well done, son!
Ghana is not playing well as a team. They rely on individual brilliance. Problem is they don't have the class they used to have. If I were a seeded team in the WCQ playoffs I would want to pull out Ghana.
yup no team play at all. Unfortunately a lot of African teams play that way sometimes. Wouldn't be scared of Ghana at all but they do have the individuals to do damage (especially if Kudus is back) so I dont know if they'd be my first pick. If I were to order the teams I would want to draw it would be this. 1. DR Congo 2. Mali 3. Ghana 4. Egypt 5. Cameroon
Gabon supporters are very happy in the stadium. There're many Gabonese in Cameroon because Gabon is a neighbour country of Cameroon. I've seen a decline of Ghana National Team. Ayew brothers are being old and the play isn't so nice.
