I have never thought an MLS move would be good for Josh after he left, but someone on a podcast mentioned him coming back to SKC to fill in for an injured Pulido, and I do wonder if that wouldn't do wonders for him.

He'd fit super well into SKC's needs - he has a lot of strengths that Vermes demands and that Pulido has. SKC creates a TON of chances so none of this "one shot a game." It's near to his family in St. Louis.

He'd have to get over the ego of it. Norwich might have to pay some of his salary. But to get his confidence back, to get to work on his game, and to actually be on a team that can generate any offense would be a big boon to him.

Of course, you might never get back. But you'd play, and you'd get service, and you'd be surrounded by wingers who are actually strong performers for the league you are in.

Also a good setup to wind up in a college or academy coaching gig.
Go ( to the Mid) West young man!

Is it the fans' job to do that? A player plays badly enough for long enough, he's going to get that kind of treatment from the fans, especially when he's part of a gawdawful team. Don't blame the fans for being fanatic. At least they are still paying customers and are interested enough to be in the stands on an away trip.

I don't believe in doing that as a fan, and never boo my own team. But sounds like we agree that fans can do what they want - I just think it's counterproductive.

That's reasonable, but you must not be a NY Giants or Jets fan. Iffin those guys didn't boo someone they'd have no reason to open their mouths at all during the game.

Congratulations to Josh and his lovely wife- all the blessings!

Hey, hopefully he uses that inspiration- and it is a huge inspiration/wake up call for any new father- to double down and do better at his job.

Also, one would think he'll play big minutes at home at Everton this weekend. Josh desperately needs a goal and his team desperately need a win in this game to have any glimmer of hope this season of stay up (and even with a win, only a slight glimmer)

So Josh is having his first child, it's not being dropped by Dean Smith?

But was he making the shots or not?

In anything where you have to deal with other people, from salesman to rock star, you must have a tough skin. Humans don't have a reputation for being sensitive, you know?

Family things (marriage, baby on the way, new home) could very well be part of the reason for his sub-par (by his own standards) soccer this season. He’s barely 22 and probably still adjusting to life in general.

To my eyes he has not looked as good as when he was at Bremen. Remember when he would consistently bang in goals against lesser teams? Then look at that all touch above against the 5th division side. That was not a good game. I’m not saying ‘that’s it, he’s done’ since one bad game doesn’t mean much. But in general he hasn’t looked himself (to my eyes). I still think it is mental with confidence issues and maybe off field pressures (family with baby etc).

    No, that was before.

Now what is happening is also typical American b.s. Everyone is denying the existence of their old takes.

It's farking embarassing that they flip like pancakes.

English parochialism about every single aspect of this sport is off the charts. You just have to learn to expect it and dismiss it.

As if Sargent’s season couldn’t get any worse, now he’s gotta deal with a kid. Poor guy.

Those tweets felt more insulting to Josh than anything. Really, were supposed to believe Josh walked off because some knuckleheads were booing? Do the fans in Germany just shower you with roses every time you take the pitch?

Congratulations to Josh on the new baby. A transformative experience. Enjoy.

I certainly hope he gets a chance to regain his confidence in front of goal. IMO he plays like a Premier League player everywhere else.

Having a child is going to serve as motivation. Let's keep in mind for all his woes in front of goal, he's kept playing and the coach has not given up on him.

Barring some kind of shock transfer I just don't see coming (or, perhaps, a loan, which is maybe slightly more possible) Josh is not likely to be a Prem player next season. That has the potential to be a more transformative experience. He either scores in the Champs (or someplace he's sold to) at a rate to suggest he belongs in the Prem/B1, just not on a crap team, or he could be forging a new career trajectory as either a lower-division striker, or, more likely, an attacking midfielder/winger of sorts.

I wonder what next season will look like for him. Norwich could easily promote in one, as well, which is likely Josh's best bet. Will be interesting.
