I think player selection for winning the WC depends on the following:

    -talent
    -current form with club
    -fit in the formations/team (position)
    -performances with the NT
    -handling pressure/being clutch

I am not sure in which order

Someone made a video of all 72 goals scored by Scaloni's team between 2018-2021. Interestingly, Messi (19) and Lautaro (17) were responsible for half of the total.

That's why I think its important for Scaloni to find a third regular goalscorer outside those two.

Indeed. You can bet teams will keep an eye on these two although who can keep the shackles on a fully fit Leo without cynical fouls. Fingers crossed the referees at the Mundial will keep him protected.

We need to make sure we get as it were cheap goals from corners while making sure at the same time we know the opposition routines for these.

It would be nice if someone in midfield also stepped up and attacked the box more to contribute. Lo Celso seems reluctant compared to his form at Betis and PSG. Palacios can bag a few but needs the confidence to know he can attack the box when required. de Paul can pull one out of the bag but needs a little more consistency. He needs to recreate his club form at Udinese. Also our full backs particularly Molina can add some threat.

It's been an awfully long time since the time of Chamot. He did not score too many but he loved to attack the box.

Dear Loco, Burr, SM, RH , Cristina, Soul and afar and everyone on this little blue and white thread thank you most kindly for your kind wishes and sentiments.

I grieve for you too Loco. What a beautiful photograph. I can still remember my dad hoisting me on his shoulders to watch the match or fetching a milk crate to stand on our old terrace at Vicarage Road.

Like afar said the ache never disappears. You will wake up every day with it but life cliched though it may sound goes on. Just remember the memories the laughter and the smiles. They would want us to go on as well. You never forget them. Some smell, sound or sight will call them to mind out of the blue and a little sadness and tear will be summoned.

I'm sure they are all up there having a good old time. Bless the parents. Lots of love and warmest wishes to you amigo and indeed to you all. Make the most of every day and always tell those around you that you love them.

@Albiceleste2010 - my most sincere condolences for your loss. There are no words or platitudes that we can offer comfort at this time. Like you, I am extremely lucky to have had father that was a huge positive part of my life - futbol is always a topic that my dad and I talk about, even at his age, he loves talking futbol. I am sending you and your family all the positive energy and everyone in the Albiceleste community are sending you the warmest of wishes. Stay strong brother -

For many years we have been lacking midfielder or defensive players who could pose a goal threats occassionally.

I remember in 2000s, when the likes of Aimar, Sorin, Veron, Cambiasso, Riquelme , Maxi Rodriguez , and even Samuel would contribute some goals here and there, it could be a long range, header, tap in but they all had between 5-17 goals.

In recent years, our best goalscoring players that aint a forward only had 1-3 goals at max.

Napoli are said to have reached an agreement over contract terms with Julian Alvarez.

The only obstacle now is that the Italian side is looking to pay the transfer in installments, while River is demanding the fee be paid directly in a lump sum. They are also attempting to negotiate a lower overall fee, rather than paying the buyout clause.

In alternate universe , we would have equalized, won a shootout and avenged our defeat to Croatia to lift thropy if wasnt him.

Looks like unless a big change happens in the coming months, Dybala is pretty decided to not renew his contract with Juventus (expires in June)

Where would you guys like to see him go?

There is this talk of him going to… Inter! Beppe Marotta, who I believe brought him to Juve is a big admirer of him. That would be something. Him and Lautaro teaming up. Inter fans are keen on him as well.

Where can he go though? He’s not really old, 28 but he’s in that weird spot where his value has dropped a bit. But no to any English teams. Barcelona maybe? It would be technically a free move. They just have to pay his wages, which are a bit high. Hell no to Atletico.

I don’t blame him for leaving. Apparently Juve blackout of a verbal agreement. So, Dybala is fed up.

Rumor is 40 names will be called up. That does not mean he will be in the 28.

I’d love that move. It would be a great move for him to continue to develop. Insigne is leaving for the MLS and they’ll need somebody who can help score some goals. His manager has apparently stated that he’s going to say no to any Russian teams or mid-table EPL sides.

I would like Dybala to go to Barca if he doesn't resign at Juve. I think that Xavi could make him into a good player, maybe a player that can compliment Messi

Barca would be good destination, since he's most likely will start. Their frontlines is a trainwreck just like their defence. I think he could link up well with Pedri.

Juve has been a stagnant for his career progression at this point.

Speaking of qualifier , if the likes of Meza, Foyth, Pezzela starting, we could possibly lose our unbeaten record.

This is insane we were just mentioning how bad Meza was few pages back. Is Scaloni's team reading this and pulling a prank on us?

Meza doesn’t have a chance of starting. Zero. Pezzella, maybe and Foyth has apparently been playing quite well for the Yellow Submarine’s. Perhaps he learned his lesson from that blunder in Colombia. It was a difficult one since he went from a starter to a player who missed the tournament.

But the likes of Pezzella and LMQ have been quite dreadful this season. Maybe that’s why Nehuén had been giving a call. But again, where is Senesi in all of this? Granted he’s had some missteps in the last month or so(OGs and all) but we need to at least call him to a 40 team camp.

As for Dybala. Yes, Barcelona would be perhaps his best destination. He’s captained for Juve before and him going to Inter would be something. Then again, Pirlo, an idol for them has played for Milano, Inter and Juve. So, there’s that.

If it's a 23 player squad in this WC, I could see the following as our CB options (granted if none of them are injured)

    Romero, Otamendi, Lisandro, Medina

Looks like Medina is expected to be called up for the WCQ matches.

Dibu just gave up a laugher to ManU. Ball shot right at him off a free kick, leaked in off his hands and through the legs.

That was a howler. Nearly did that with us a couple of games ago, so I’m sure he’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again (knocks on wood).

Dybala with a great goal devoid of any celebration. Really hope he goes to Inter!

Papu with an awesome goal as well before some idiot fan ruined the game.
