Dom Dwyer to the Rapids? No way. Does he have the right attitude to fit in with the culture Robin Fraser has built in Commerce City. If they bring in a #9 my bet is that it will be someone that isn't on our radar currently. That just seems to be the way things work with Pádraig these days.
#Rapids96 targeting South American attacker. More information tomorrow (hopefully).— Inside Rapids (@insiderapids) January 11, 2022 🇺🇾 #Rapids96 https://t.co/9dgtvLSWt7— Inside Rapids (@insiderapids) January 11, 2022 Interest in an Uruguayan striker?
Have no inside info on this, but going to throw out a random name I could see happening on the off chance I'm right... Agustín Álvarez He's a highly touted 20-year-old striker prospect from Peñarol who has been scouted by a bunch of big European clubs, but hasn't really received concrete interest from anyone yet. 33g/9a in 70 appearances across all competitions last year and has just started making appearances for the Uruguayan national team. Could be looking for an interim big-money move before he makes the leap to Europe.
Just realized we have 2 picks in 1st round this afternoon. #10 & #23 Maybe package them to move up a bit, I expect Defender depth pick.
Current value of $5.5M according to transfermarkt. Might be a bit of a stretch for the Rapids but not out of the realm of possibility.
Hey if the Rapids want to become the go between for South American talent on their way up....I'm all for that. A year or two with a super talented kid before he moves on to Europe....not a bad pipeline at all if that's the route we want to take! Buy for 5-7, sell for 20. And so on.
I haven’t heard of Agustin Alvarez but I’ll throw a young Uruguayan out there that’s reportedly, at least in South America, has gained some MLS interest…. Matias Arezo from River Plate Montevideo. I wonder if that could be a young player of interest to the Rapids. He’s called The Buffalo, IIRC because of his physique. Looks great on highlight reels but who doesn’t? I’ve seen mixed price tags on Arezo anywhere from $7M-20M. That price - whatever it may be - seems far fetched for the Rapids.
With that 10th selection in 2022 MLS Super Draft the Colorado Rapids select……… a TRADE to Nashville! $125K in GAM. $50K in conditional and the 26th pick. Edit: 1481013372946722821 is not a valid tweet id BTW…… Colorado native and U of Washington CB, Ryan Sailor went 9th to Inter Miami. Crossed paths it’s him a few times when he was younger playing for Real Colorado. Good kid.
