It looks like it's about to become official:

Is the loan to buy part surprising here?

They probably need the cash injection from a would be promotion to fund the purchase

So he could have joined Italian (and EPL) clubs too, but they went w/ WBA instead.

I infer from this that Orlando are still shooting for the stars w/ that 20 million dollar demand, which they'll get, if he helps WBA get promoted too, which is worth a couple hundred million on average by itself.

This is one of the many reasons why it's dumb to nearly 1:1 evaluate players based on club associations. But some want to do it to feel better when they fill out their fantasy lineup.

I mentioned this a while back in the thread and I agreed with the criticism of him going here... but it was a literal guarantee he'd slot right in as the #1 at Albion with VI at the helm and their lack of attacking options upfront. Now whether that's good for him in the long run career wise as opposed to the coaching/level that would have come from playing in Italy... who knows.

Italy can also be hit or miss for young players.

Yeah 4 year deal I saw. Ismael made him a priority. And many Baggies fans seem to think he can secure them promotion

Here's a WBA video from a couple days ago. Long story short they want him

that's awesome. WBA must be very optimistic of their promotion chances. Dike can hang at EPL level, but going up with a club will definitely get him entrenched.

Love to see a move where the coach is secure in his position and knows first-hand what he’s getting with this player. Couple that with a great shot at promotion and this is an A+.

Saw Lukaku scoring in one of the corner, when the defender fell to the ground by trying defend him. Actually Dike is stronger than Lukaku. Wish one day we can see defenders in EPL bouncing off him. LOL.

Interesting..so it is a sale. Plus there's performance bonuses, one of which I presume is tied to WBA's promotion hopes. Other may be a minutes threshold, or unattainable ones. But probably a better deal for Orlando in the end than a loan + banking everything on WBA's team performance, Dike's individual one, and health.
