X】 (@jef_united) December 29, 2021 JEF beating Beleza 3-0 is something I would’ve never imagined even considering the current state of each team. According to JEF’s Twitter, Beleza had 0 shots total by the 55th minute… And Cerezo has beaten Niigata 1-0. The team and the coach have repeatedly said that they want to prove themselves worthy of professionalization to their higher ups in the club. If this performance in the tournament hasn’t done that I don’t know what will.
By the way, Shinomi Koyama is current top scorer of Empress' Cup, with 7 goals in 4 matches (although 4 of them were scored in their first round's 8-0 win vs Japan Soccer College Ladies).
Menina is 2 up against Omiya just as I turn the tv on about 10minutes after the second half started. Oyama is the Scorer. Really good long range shot. She has insane power and accuracy from that range…probably unmatched by any WE league player currently…
Menina 4-0 Omiya. 80th minute. Scorer is Matsunaga. To be honest Omiya look like they don’t care after they conceded the third goal. This Menina reminds me of Beleza 2-3 years ago. Back when they attacked with pace and were ruthless with their pressure. All credit to Menina they are a great team and deserve every praise they get. These professional teams should hang their heads in shame though. They’re the reason people are going to be questioning the point of the WE league’s existence for the next 3 months. I don’t know about the INAC game but these tiny Menina players are winning all the 1 on 1’s against players that spend their whole day training. Omiya players try to tackled these kids and they’re the ones falling over…. Menina is now subbing in their keeper for…experience…. Wolf Jessica is on and her height is 176cm that’s pretty tall.
Today’s result: Empress's Cup quarter final Albi 0-1 Cerezo (Koyama) Regina 0-2 Urawa (Naomoto, Sugasawa) Ohmiya 0-4 Menina (Hijikata, Ohyama, Hiwatashi, Matsunaga) Beleza 0-3 Jef (Ohsawa, Fujishiro, Imai)
Menina's schedule: U18 first round January 4 Empress's Cup semi final January 5 U18 second round January 6
I think it’s partly due to the Asian Cup. We would also be starved of content if everything ended in January and we had to wait 2 months…
Maybe it will happen? My predictions for the quarter finals were terrible and I must eat a lot of humble pie. It looks like Menina totally destroyed Omiya. Really disappointing from Omiya because I thought they were so good against the form team in the WE League JEF. Well done to Menina. Against JEF they might find things a little bit more difficult, because JEF are one of the few teams who try to play out from the back and they have a quick midfield. But the way Menina are playing who would right them off? Cerezo did the job again. I cannot see them beating Urawa. But now I have written that they will go and win.
p/s I am glad that Beleza lost and Menina won, some changes have to be done in order to put Beleza back on track. Maybe Beleza should promote Menina coach, otherwise, it's painful to watch how Beleza losing their reputation in this league... A few youngsters should be promoted as well, or they should get more playing time at least.
But for JFA one of the important things to be "professional" is have more seats in the stadiums... Anyway, congratulations to Menina and Cerezo, they are showing in this tournament that illusion is more important than the budget
It’s 2022 here in Japan so let me be the first to say Happy New Year [emoji1]. Hope everyone has a happy, safe and healthy year.
