Woah: 1471505508834037760 is not a valid tweet id I didn’t know that clubs had this kind of sway over scheduling….certainly makes things interesting. Especially makes you wonder the hierarchy of what one club says vs another. I’m sure in this case the Revs being the supporters shield winner had the most weight in the conversation, but it also makes you wonder about other games / dates for playoff scheduling and whether other teams can “opt out” of certain dates. That’s a huge nugget of info. NE Revs “opting out” of the Thanksgiving game. Crazy.
I think people are reading too much into that. Because the Revs clinched the #1 seed (and the Shield) with a couple weeks to go they of course talked with the league about locking in their playoff date so they could begin planning. If the Rapids had clinched the 1 seed at the same tone they would have been involved in those conversations too. I think the bigger part of the scheduling is that the league considered completely throwing the schedule in the air and delaying the end of the first round so Seattle would host on Thanksgiving until the Rapids fought to keep the game they had earned.
Just saw the Rapids are hosting CCL Wed Feb 23rd at 6:30pm. Article mentions the game is expected to be at Dicks, but not confirmed. Any reason for this or is just a formality that is not finalized the the people at CONCACAF? https://www.coloradorapids.com/news...es-confirmed-rapids-to-host-comunicaciones-fc Also so excited for this game, really hoping we can advance a couple rounds.
Nice catch... the press release they sent out to media said the game would be hosted at Dick's. I don't know why the website says differently.
As predicted, the Dec. 16th date with the judge may have helped prompt a break in the ice dam. Will see what comes of Altitude's proposal to Comcast Monday and any subsequent mediation. I'll believe it when I see it, but it's a hell of a lot more promising today than it was a day ago... or a year ago... or two years ago. Maybe all games will be back in 2022? Badji to be announced as a new #FCCincy player tomorrow? Check out the reply. That’s definitely Cincy’s locker room https://t.co/gpt70DbqEk— MLS Now (@MLSNowPodcast) December 17, 2021
Badji “liked” this post: Badji is not gone to #FCCincy YET, #Rapids96 fans. Keep any eye out in the next few days/weeks but the reports that he will be announced as a Cincinnati player tomorrow are indeed false.— Inside Rapids (@insiderapids) December 18, 2021
Kudos to the kit guy who had a Badji jersey made and put in Cinci's locker room though, that is a good shithousery.
The Rapids have added a new staff position, Player Welfare Officer, to help players with all the things outside the game that they need support with. https://www.coloradorapids.com/news...apids-new-player-welfare-officer-for-the-club
🇧🇷Se seguite la MLS, tenete d'occhio Max (Alves), centrocampista offensivo classe '01 che i Colorado Rapids hanno acquistato dal Flamengo.Negli ultimi mesi, in prestito al neopromosso Cuiabá, ha segnato solo 1 gol in 21 partite, ma ha un gran potenziale.pic.twitter.com/Jt8CXU4U5u— Matthias (@Thiasgal) December 18, 2021 Translation: If you follow the MLS, keep an eye on Max (Alves), an attacking midfielder born in '01 that the Colorado Rapids have bought from Flamengo. In recent months, on loan to newly promoted Cuiabá, he has only scored 1 goal in 21 games, but has great potential. Max looks to be like Galván and Esteves, a young player who is still developing and several season down the road could be sold for much more than he cost in a transfer fee. Hopefully he is a much better fit for the style of play Fraser favors than Namli was. Also, it seems that Pádraig & Co. have done a good job of anticipating having to replace a departing player. Clearly, they had lined up Esteves well before Vines was sold and with Max he in a sense comes in for Namli and perhaps Bassett.
I did a little schedule analysis today. The tl;dr version is that the timing and travel is really favorable in our schedule, but the cross-over schedule with the Eastern Conference is horrible. Outside of Charlotte we got every team in the top 9 in 2021 except New England. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2021/12/schedule-analysis.html
And Cole Bassett scores on his international debut off a rebound from a Jonathan Gomez shot. Happy camper over here with my two teams - Rapids and Louisville City - being repped in that goal scoring sequence.
This made my day! ✔️ First cap✔️ First goal✔️ 1-0 @USMNT winTake a bow, Cole Bassett.🎥 @USMNT pic.twitter.com/YkbWXqbapr— The Athletic (@TheAthletic) December 19, 2021
Reliable. Durable. Trusted. Tonight, @KellynAcosta becomes the first #USMNT player since 1994 to earn 21 caps in a calendar year. pic.twitter.com/HRrINVTdUm— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) December 19, 2021
Berhalter on Cole Bassett and his finishing ability. "We were seeing that during the week with his finishing ability and he show that again tonight." #USMNT— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) December 19, 2021
Woah Gregg! You clearly haven’t watched his club matches this past season! The post / crossbar / inches wide were his worst enemies. Seriously tough, Bassett has a nose for goal. If he improves that finishing we are looking at a Lampard-like midfielder who can score while playing both sides of the ball.
Are we still talking about the Rapids’ Cole Bassett or is there an evil twin Bassett who actually has an instinct for the net?
No idea if this is verified. So it's another FWIW post. Either way, I've filed it under "I didn't expect this!". A source has told me that Auston Trusty is possibly being sold to Arsenal so the club will have more GAM. Keep an eye on this. #USMNT pic.twitter.com/GZPzOqWkBr— MLS Moves (@MLSMoves) December 20, 2021
If Trusty really is a target of Arsenal, I presume that they would put him on loan for a season or two before he would be ready for first team time. I'm still not sure I can wrap my head around Arsenal taring Trusty that high given that he has no national team time and just this season became a starter.
