Tessman looks raw, but he doesn't look untechnical. More inexperienced

Looks more experienced than earlier, this year, though. Starting to look like he belongs - physical tools, technically pretty good, creative passer - I'm more concerned about his athletic ceiling, as I think he's been learning pretty quickly.

You can see he likes to sniff for interceptions - Kante is like that. He has a good sense for where his "turf" is.

He seems to gravitate to 6 position altho they gave him the 8.

I guess they will use him where he is needed most and I don't know a lot about Venusians, so.........maybe we will see him kick some field goals from yard while keeping the ball under the bar instead of over. That would be fun.

In today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport:

Tessmann: 6.5 - A Locatelli in the making. In this case, the 2001-born American outperformed the midfielder directly facing him, who, to a small degree, he resembles for his technical characteristics. Sending him on was the right move.

Well, Locatelli would be a perfect starter for our #6 role. LOL.

Agreed, it's hard to understand the Venusians.

The Martians and Jovians are much easier.

I recommend being careful about the ones from Uranus though.

It's where the sniff for interceptions comes in handy.

Is this what the kids mean by shyteposting?

    Love the translations.

Tess is locatelli, and Busio is the jewel!

I really like his game. He reminds me of Busio in some ways, both play simple and smart. He had a few bright moments and popped up on D in surprising places -- had good stops in both corners despite playing central.

This is what I've said, to some objection.

The reality they're similar players makes it odd Venezia invested in acquiring both. They don't really complement each other. When they've paired together they haven't really covered the spaces, ball progressed off the dribble, or provided much final 3rd contribution. They both want to sit deeper, hit long balls, long shots, and will nip in defensively, if they can get there.

I don't think they're regretting the signings individually. They're enough value in isolation. But I wonder if they think now they'd have been better off targeting another American as a complement to the other. Like a Cole Bassett instead of Tessmann.

These guys can cover for Adams when he's injured and tired.

So it's fair to say he's well regarded by the manager and fans? Not simply for depth.

keep an open mind. I like Adams a lot but we dont know where the ceiling is for Busio and Tessman.

He's getting a bunch of minutes of the "best available guy to help us win" variety, instead of the "let's get this guy some experience" or "crap, no one else here is healthy" variety.

I agree it's mostly the former but also some of the latter. Great summation though

Also, Venice is a great team to watch, especially at home. If you're stuck with multiple YA games, you can't go wrong with Venice IMO

venezia is doing very well at utilizing tessmann, but his instincts and speed of reading the game defensively are still not there if you want to see him playing a more active 6 role. watching him defend and its basically him retreating to the top of the 18. still too much diving in and not reading danger before it happens.

I'm seeing on Twitter that Tessmann is starting today alongside Busio, as Venezia are visiting Sampdoria.
