Not sure if y’all read this or not, but Matt Doyle put up his 2021 season review for the Rapids: https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/what-the-2021-mls-season-meant-for-colorado-rapids He also, very strangely, hinted at both Price and Trusty potentially being on the move this offseason and not coming back for 2022??? What the heck? Where does he get the idea that one or both of these guys as potentially not coming back in 2022?? They are both under contract, and unless I’m blind, I haven’t seen much of anything around any sort of rumors about these guys disappearing from the rapids this offseason? Especially with Price? Color me confused
I posted this comment on the subreddit but might as well add it here because it's the exact same discussion: I believe this rumor about Price leaving was started by Weibe in an episode of Extra Time a few weeks back (the very episode alluded to in this article). I did some digging and couldn't find anything else backing it up. I asked Weibe over DM if he had a scoop, and he just said it was something he thought could happen and that he didn't have any inside info. Since that episode, the crew of ET have been floating this out as a possibility in articles and on Twitter, but there is absolutely nothing concrete about him leaving: no teams publicly expressing interest, no attempts by the Rapids to move him on, nothing of substance beyond "maybe". Price lives in Colorado, just moved his family here, and recently signed an extension. Could be wrong, but I really don't think he's going to go anywhere. If Colorado really wants to cash out on him, the best opportunity will probably be in the off-season after next year. As far as Trusty goes, I think it's the same story. I think people are just expecting the Rapids to cash out on some of their top performers like they did after 2016. Trusty seems like he could have a lot of value, but really only within MLS for now. I don't think Colorado benefits by shopping him in the league (especially the West). They'd have to get a killer offer to justify sending him elsewhere. Miami is rumored to get 1.2 m in allocation for Lewis Morgan. Different positions, but you'd have to imagine that an MLS team would need to put a lot more on the table to get Trusty.
There is nothing behind the Price story other than MLSsoccer.com writers rumor-mongering. On the Trusty side though, I've heard a hint of some possible European interest. Nothing more than a report that there's been some sniffing around (no idea what league/team) but there might be something to the idea he could be on the move. But it won't be in MLS unless we get an offer we just can't refuse.
Wait, not CotY Bruce Arena? ESPN announces that Colorado Rapids head coach Robin Fraser will be a part of the network's studio coverage from Portland’s Providence Park alongside Sebastian Salazar and Alejandro Moreno. #MLSCup— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) December 9, 2021
So many of these stories flying around from Europe. Most seem to be based on the same source info, but I am not used to seeing that many articles about a Rapids trialist at the big clubs. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/12/09/rangers-arsenal-dantouma-toure-trialist/ rod.

To outdo the sourcing and citing that Weibe and Doyle did regarding the unfounded Jack Price rumor… I’m gonna go on a limb and say that Nico #20 will take a pay cut and be back in burgundy this spring. For one, he digs Colorado (the state) and seems to have a local girl here. And of course, he has found a great bond with Barrios, Galvan, and Rubio. But maybe more notably, almost daily he’s been posting shots from Uruguay on social media working out in Rapids gear, giving Rapids gear to friends, etc. I’d say he’ll be back. (See, I told ya my sources are better than Weibe’s and Doyle’s!) And, yea, I know Nico isn’t our star mid. But he has proven to be a very reliable and capable utility guy and backup… not to mention the value he brings to the chemistry. Hoping he stays!

Another Weibe/Doyle-quality rumor source… file under FWIW. Steven Beitashour was at my son’s soccer clinic today. If he wasn’t sticking around with the Rapids in the spring you’d think he’d already be long gone and moved back to his home in LA by now. Then again, who knows. He could just be hangin’ here till he knows where he’s going. Also FWIW, the stoppage time striker, Alan Gordon, helped run the clinic.

The Beitashour’s just bought a house in the Denver area back in the summer. I know because the company I work for helped him with the buying process. Spoke to him once very, very briefly and he mentioned they were finally putting down roots after stops in San Jose, Vancouver, Toronto, and LA. I don’t know if he’ll be back with the Rapids but I do know this is where he wants to be. I also know he’s been involved in the Rapids youth teams as a frequent visitor so maybe coaching is in his future.
Interesting. Thanks. So, THAT is why Beita is sticking around Denver in the off-season. This goes to show that the Weibe Unfounded Speculation Standard (WUSS) doesn’t hold water for appropriate rumor sharing (spreading). And after further investigation, looks like this observation of Beita and Alan Gordon (who also put down roots here) at the kids soccer clinic is more a factor of those two being buds from their early days at San Jose more than anything else. Sidenote 1: Clint Irwin was also present (he and Beita were just doing autographs while Gordon helped run the show). Sidenote 2: Gordon’s son (8?) is a real baller.
Ok, here's one that's stumping me. French player Ouissem Belgacem has a new biography out where he discusses having to hide being gay in football. The Sky Sports article about his book mentions (quoted below) that he moved to the U.S. and got a development contract with Colorado. This would have been in 2008. I have absolutely 0 memory of this player, and I can't find a single reference to him and the Rapids outside of this article (and all the spin-off articles that it generated). Can anyone else remember this? https://www.skysports.com/football/...ning-shame-into-pride-and-fighting-homophobia
His name is ringing zero bells with me. Of course, 2008 is before my Rapids days. My Rapids days started a year later in ‘09 when I moved here. There’s been a ton of trialists over the years. Some we know about some that are Trialist 1 or 2 and we never now. I wonder if he was and just lost in translation in the book. Side note….. good book? Worth a read? I’m always looking for a good read.
That could be, that he got a trial and it got translated as a development contract. No idea on the book, this article today is the first I've heard of it.
Is it possible he had a contract to play with the reserve/U23 team at the time? 2007-2008 were the last years of the Reserve-turned-U-23 team before it was revived in '17. Edit: I can't find any historical record/listing of rosters during this era of the PDL.
No real big surprises on that unprotected listed. The only “mini” surprise might be Rubio over Shinyashiki. But given the rumors that Rubio wants to return to Chile, specifically to Colo Colo, it does make sense he was left unprotected
