Yep we have ifollow most FL teams do. I'm trying not to get too carried away, there's a long way to go in the season and yellow cards have been mounting up so we could start getting suspensions soon, not to mention we've still got to get through January unscathed with big wealthy clubs like Wednesday trying to sign our best players.
We had our chances against Accrington just didn't take them and got beat, one of those days I suppose. It's good that we bounced back today. Sunderland seem to have turned things around so I hope Wigan end up with a massive fixture pile up. 3 games in hand pfft.
Michael Smith's got a bit of form going, eh? Someone said that's his 17th of the campaign? That right? 17 by New Years is a helluva haul, there.
Yeah if we lose him in January we'll be screwed, it's not just his scoring but his general hold up play and aerial ability.. if we're serious about promotion we need to hold onto him.
8 changes in the 4-2 win against Crewe last night in the cup, Smith scored again over hyped don't sign him.
How old is he? edit: rather lazy of me asking, as I'm sitting here on a computer. Anyway, I've looked it up and he's already thirty years old! I've had a look back through his career and this level of success really is unprecedented. He did have a couple of decent 18-goal seasons in '13-14 and '14-15 but lots of them came in League 2 or various 'other' competitions. His form this year is quite a surprise, eh?
Apparently Freddie Ladapo has put in a transfer request. If he goes, Smith definitely needs to stay. Hell, even if he doesn't go Smith needs to stay. Still, League 1 looks to be his level. He's put up decent numbers in his last few 3rd-tier seasons. I can think of a club or two that might be interested.
Presumably that's in the FA Cup 3rd round. It's odd that wherever you get those preview thingies from doesn't even say what competition they're in. At any rate, that's a mester's away day. Get thissen a ticket, Myshoe, and head down to that London town. 3 quid for the chicken balti pie at Loftus Road, and one of the best old grounds in England ... can't go wrong.
They key is to look for "TABLE". Look under their badges to the right of "PREVIEW". If it says "TABLE" it's a league match.
1-1 over 120mins against a team 5th in the Championship, can't really be too disappointed the lads are really doing the town proud. As for Ladapo putting in a transfer request he's out of contract in the summer so if he doesn't want to stay then if we can get anything for him this window it would be a bonus. He might just be posturing for a bigger contract though. If he stays there's a fairly decent chance (touch wood) of Championship football next season and I can't exactly see Championship clubs falling over themselves to sign him.
Doesn't the club have an option for another year, though?* If so, might they keep him for this campaign, exercise that option, and then put him on the market ... just so they get something out of him? Up at the big money end of things (read: the Prem) I would expect clubs to do something like that, but I really don't know if it works that way that far down the pyramid. I know it's much more common for contracts to expire down there. *or maybe they don't. Hell, I don't know what's going on at my own club.
