Kickoff moved 10 minutes to accommodate the end of a regular season women’s college basketball game featuring an unranked team. Boy we still have a ways to go.
Nor should they be. MLS pregame shows are insufferable. I would love to see kickoff 2-3 minutes into the TV window.
Yeah I know all about UConn’s dominance. But the point is that it wasn’t a key game. Not a matchup of two top 5 teams or a tournament game, just a game featuring a dominant program. MLS has a broadcast partner that is willing to air a game of this caliber and have it preempt pregame coverage for MLS’s biggest game of the year. Just reveals how far we still have to go to grow the league and respect for it because this wouldn’t happen for the top 4 leagues.
Loving this. MLS Cup on broadcast TV in a great stadium in the middle of the afternoon, and Army-Navy in jerseys they only wear against service academies on a tablet. Great way to spend a cold, windy Saturday afternoon on the south plains.
NWSL "fans" who complained about a championship game where a camera was not getting wiped off during the game are about to enter the chat again.
If money was no object I would have gone to this game and then acted shocked that the Union weren't playing when a Timbers fan asked what I was doing there.
Other than the NFL the top 4 leagues are best of 7 series and mostly on weeknights with no other sports competition. Even so, the NHL doesn't even switch to broadcast TV until the 3rd game of the finals.
As a (transplanted) New Yorker, I can tell you everyone in the NYC area is watching Army-Navy. And it’s just depressing as hell to watch a game being played in a freezing rainstorm. Why couldn’t they play in, say, the brand-new dome in Vegas?
Looks like I'll be putting about 73 whiny jackoffs on ignore today. Seriously, grow up and stop complaining about every little thing you pathetic losers.
