Richie Ledezma's first match back ended in a 3-2 loss to De Graafschap. Ledezma played the second half off the bench and created the most chances in the match (4). Also had 4 key passes and an 88% passing rate. #USMNT— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) December 6, 2021
He needs to reach the first team in my opinion to see the NT aside from a camp cupcake type of window. If I remember correctly he was training with the first team and got in a game or two before he got hurt.
Feel like I'm late to the party. Happy National Microwave Oven Day, everybody! Edit: Oh, and welcome back, Richy!
Welcome back son! I watched almost every minute of his first team minutes. He was slowly growing into the team each appearance. It was very positive, then the injury. It seems like such a long time ago. Best of luck and a guy who can contribute IMO.
Rik Elfrink 07-12-21, 14:27 Bron: ED
I'M NOT CRYING UR CRYING 🥺Look at what it means to Richie Ledezma after making his return to the pitch from a torn ACL in nearly a year.(via @PSV)pic.twitter.com/mhM5aYkm5P— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) December 8, 2021
If there are any rehab/physios/orthopedic docs out there, is there any work out there showing how to prevent or manage the imbalances that happen from use of one leg over the other for as long as athletes take to recover? Do they prioritize that specifically? Guys like Jordan Morris come to mind when you think about a guy who injures one knee and then comes back healthy and then injures the other. Is that just thought to be related to the fact that if you have one ligament tear, you are more likely to do the other?
https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-...usmnt-prospect-battled-back-after-acl-rupture Great feature from ESPN about Richie's return from injury. Also, he's in the squad for tomorrow's must-win (or at least draw, lame way of putting it though) match against Sociedad.
look who's already traveling for a Europa League game https://t.co/v5hkIUS45A pic.twitter.com/NJxJTL3Q6u— scuffed (@scuffedpod) December 8, 2021 already travelling with the 1st team for Europa League match! seems like he's jumping right back in to where he left off!!
its a nice article...kinda emotional reading how difficult the whole process was for him. otoh kinda weird that he hasnt closed the door on playing for mexico yet from the article...didnt even realiz that was an option for him.
Wow... Fantastic news! Gets a single game back with Jong and is now back with the senior team. I really hope he gets a cameo.
Unlikely I'm afraid. PSV are only 2 points ahead of Sociedad and they're both fighting for the second place. He'll only get a cameo if there's 3 goals in it. Garbage minutes? Sure, but not a cameo
I'm not a doctor, but I had knee surgery when I was ~15 years old after hyper extending my knee on a full sprint down the field that resulted in just about everything being torn. The hardest part for me coming back was by far the psychological challenge. It took me a long time to get over the 'what ifs' of playing soccer and potentially injuring my knee. If you've never had a serious injury before, it really makes you realize that you aren't invincible. I came to realize that putting the work into rehab and finding a workout routine that personally fits you goes a long way in easing the psychological challenge of returning. Richie is a fantastic player who reads the game well and can control the tempo of a game. We don't have anyone in the current player pool and arguably ever that has the ability to affect the game's tempo at the highest levels. He has the potential to be that player and can really take the the USMNT (or any club team) to the highest levels of attacking play. I'm rooting for him--it takes time, but eventually he'll get to where he needs to be.
You know what to do. #NECPSV— PSV (@PSV) December 12, 2021 He's on the bench again. Some hope of playing?
