Alas, after several years of mainstream streaming platforms, we're still in the growing-pains stage. CBS/Paramount maybe gets a slight pass in that they're one of the newer kids on the block. But still there's really very little good excuse for not having your act fully together for a critical day like today, especially the LIV-ACM & POR-ATM matches which represented classic "decision day" drama.
No way, I give them no pass. It's a paid service and has a monster parent company. Year 2 and still constant issues like this. Unacceptable, but there's not much we can do about it. Must frustrating aspect is the commercials mid game. Plain incompetence from someone. I do like their studio talent and commentary decisions at least, but the technical side has not improved whatsoever.
Love it also....my only gripe with it is that on Thursdays they didn't include Conference League on show with Europa League.
Wow that’s some serious synching problem! I wonder who introduced that delay… CBS or the Italian source feed or somewhere in between??
Just cause I like to talk about soccer on actual television networks... ...the Jamaica-Mexico World Cup Qualifier tomorrow is scheduled for CBS Sports Network for those of us who care.
No, but it crashes on my iPad a lot. I just deleted it the other night for that reason, but did not get around to reinstalling yet. Glad you reminded me (though I'm not watching US game at home, but will watch a CONCACAF highlights later).
Just a head's up. Catching up on CONCACAF qualifers and the Costa Rica v Panama match just has crowd noise until 9 minutes in when the commentary finally arrives. Not the best commentator.....
Thanks for the tip. My DVR’s guide doesn’t show them but CBS website does. That seems like a pretty big deal for CBS to put this on their main channel, Preempting daytime soaps, talkshows, gameshows or whatever.
https://www.ontvtonight.com/guide/listings/channel/69048345/cbs.html It includes the pregame show at 2pm. I didn't see anything for next week. Could this week's decision have been made to go up against the Olympics? It wouldn't surprise me.
I screwed up and was looking at FOX rather than CBS. That explains why it wasn’t showing in my guide, and today’s recording was some daytime trash. Oh well, I’ll get it tomorrow.
No, it is not just a one -week trial.: Next week CBS will televise Celsea v Lille (Tues) and Atletico Madrid v Mancester United (Wed)
Wow. GREAT to see the world's game show up on the big 4 network channels. And at the R16 stage no less!! I would've expected it to be on CBSSN at this stage and maybe switch to big CBS as of the SF's. I have no clue what CBS airs during weekdays but do you suppose this says more about the recognition of the importance of the beautiful game* or more about their paltry daytime lineup? *Perhaps slightly less beautiful than it used to be since the away-goals rule has been abandoned?
I have noticed in recent weeks that if you watch a portion of an archived match on Paramount + and then go to another app or program, when you come back to resume watching the match it always starts it at the beginning. With ESPN+ & Peacock, you can come back to a match later and it lets you resume from where you left off. I don't remember this happening with Paramount + before. I often can only catch 20-30 minutes of a match at a time during the week and it is annoying when I take a break to make dinner or something and then go back to the match and it starts the match from the beginning. I am using a TCL Roku TV with the Paramount + app. Anyone else have this problem?
I also use Roku and I've definitely experienced this problem. However I can't recall which streaming platforms did it. Because of the EPL I use mostly Peacock, and I feel like I've had this problem there too. Or maybe I'm mixing it up with the problem that I've *definitely* had with Peacock (on Roku) , where I pause a game wanting to come back to it an hour or two later, only to find myself kicked out of the app and back to the main Roku screen. And of course it goes without saying that my DVR never does this.
This didn't used to be a problem on P+, but it has been for a couple of months now. I think it's something with their Roku app (I need to try it on my Fire stick) because I can resume where I left off on my tablet and phone.
It's weird. Right after I posted this I noticed the problem was fixed with a Champions League match I started earlier. It gave me the "resume" button which worked. So maybe they've fixed it. I haven't checked if it's fixed for Serie A, AFA, etc... One annoying thing they appeared to introduce this week was autoplay. Last night I was going to watch Europa League replays and it started playing something (maybe the Golazo show--I switched to match quickly to avoid spoilers)
