I mean, I get the going rate for strikers and all but, when you pay that much quid and they can't hit a barn door with a machine gun, you question who the hell is doing the scouting over there.

I mean, I remember watching some Newcastle games when Sir Bobby Robson managed and Shearer was banging in the goals for fun. When that team can play that place is a fortress; even Man U had tough games there.

Ashley's cheapness may just doom them this season; they may have to win 7 or more games/get at least a point in 2/3rds of their remaining games just to hit 40 points and possibly stay up.

Just watched the Merseyside Derby. Liverpool are… just. too. good.

    Oh, and Rafa’s Everton suck.

Everton have spent a ton of money to transform themselves into Everton.

You might say that all that spending has actually helped make them worse than classic Everton.

Well well well, ESPN+ has picked this up so us Yanks can watch it live! :D Sunday 9:00am KO

When I heard Tim Stillman today “guaranteeing” that it’d be watchable wherever you are, I went looking again, and lo and behold…

We’ve got quite a few key injuries but COYG!!!

West Ham must have some sort of deal with the devil we don't know about, that Masuaka goal was crazy.

And LOL at Chelsea, they have a habit of giving up those kinds of goals like the Saka one last season.

Moyes and his boys show us (and everyone else) how to push on and go for a result. Even when they had only 36% possession.

Ps. Antonio is a beast. With great ball skills and tight control. Plays with joy. What’s not to like?

After 94’ of 0-0, Liverpool manage to finally break through. Courtesy of super sub Origi.

Meanwhile Newcastle survive an intensely nervy finish with some guile and good luck. And at long long last a victory. Howe did they manage that?!

Ps. Forgot to mention another crazy finish where Brighton equalizes in 98’ thanks to our best mate Maupay.

City will likely win the league again, LFC will make a strong push and Chelsea likely 3rd. The data just doesn't favore Chelsea, and defensively LFC are too open as they try to transition to a more dynamic midfield.

Same voodoo behind their deal with the London Olympic Legacy Committee (or whatever it's called) that means they club get about £20mm per year more than they should.

I'm sure the team assumes that at some point in the future the City will consider the venue a money pit and gift it to the team. Instead I hope they boot the team in favor of housing. Let the effin hammers build from scratch with their own money.

    Preferably in a lower division.

Just a reminder that tomorrow morning, instead of giving your eyeball attention to Spuds or Manure, you might watch & support our gals:

    2020-21 Women's FA Cup Final
    Arsenal vs Chelsea
    9am ET on ESPN+

Even though we had a huge victory over them in the league on opening day, they've gotten their act together, while we've had a few injury problems of late. We lead the league with a fantastic opening run, but they've been the best team in England the last few years and are right back on our heels. So I feel like it's anyone's match tomorrow.

Leah Williamson will be greatly missed at CB (medium-term hammie) but we get a few regulars back after some recent knocks. And we have several players who have been immense of late, including Beth Mead & Frida Maanum.

    Here's a good pre-match write-up by Tim Stillman if you're interested:
    https://arseblog.news/2021/12/arsenal-v-chelsea-women-fa-cup-final-preview/

If Chelsea wins, they complete a treble for 2020-21 (this cup final having been postponed by the lockdown). So we should not, cannot, let that happen!

    COYG!!!!

Fairly dismal half of footy for us, after we gave up an opener at 3'. Zero SOG for us. Our GK has kept us in it. Honestly it easily could or should be 0-3 at this point.

Last 10 mins were better for us. No way to go but up?

    That's an understatement.

FT Arsenal Women 0-3 Chelsea Women

Sadly, we were thoroughly outclassed today. Even more so than I thought was in the cards. Sorry if I dragged anyone through that.

66% possession but not a single shot on goal.

Did something today I haven’t done in quite a few years: watched an F1 race.

Whoa, what an unbelievably crazy race! Lots of argybargy on a brand new, narrow Saudi track.

Was the track designed consciously to induce that? And thus the amazing action/controversy which was today?

With Hamilton and Verstappen going into the final race tied on points, I decided to set my DVR for next Sunday.

Does Max always drive dirty Like that? Or was he just over amped by the pressure and rareness of the occasion?
